[Bug 643289] Re: idmapd does not starts to work after system reboot

2011-07-19 Thread iFred
Met same problem in natty.

@Steve Langasek
There is no way to reproduce open(/var/lib/nfs/rpc_pipefs/nfs) problem in
oneric because mount-related actions from /etc/init/rpc_pipefs.conf were moved
to /etc/init/idmapd.conf and /etc/init/gssd.conf.
I think, that best solution for this bug is to backport contents of /etc/init
directory of nfs-common package.

[Bug 794895] Re: Xorg crashes in doListFontsAndAliases

2011-06-17 Thread iFred
Well, strict answer is no, because there is only a workaround (not quite
obvious to regular user) but there is no patch that actually fixes this bug.
On the other hand it seems, that people on freedesktop.org bugzilla actually
treat this bug as won't-fix.
But preventing nVidia config tool (and maybe other tools) from writing FontPath
unix/:7100 to xorg.conf could also be threated as a fix for this bug.

[Bug 794895] Re: Xorg crashes in doListFontsAndAliases

2011-06-09 Thread iFred
Success story:
Looks like I first got bug #774978, then I switched to proprietary nVidia

After cleanup of xorg.conf and installation of xserver-xorg-input-

I tried your method (disabling record module in xorg.conf) but all I got was

[ 1394.228] (WW) record will not be loaded unless you've specified it to be
loaded elsewhere.
...
[ 1394.228] (II) record will be loaded even though the default is to disable
it.

Try setting GConf key /apps/metacity/general/capture_before_unmap to
false. This trick eliminated most of similar artifacts in my case. But
some motif-based applications still have redraw problems.

make is aliased to colormake.
As result I get broken menuconfig interface:

common interface ugliness

  1. In To header email address is used as recipient name, while in address

  2. Reply-To header is present, but I left this field empty both in options

the same address from which I write e-mails, Reply-To header should empty or
missing. This is correct way, but people (or e-mail clients) often copy From

the same address from which I write e-mails, Reply-To header should empty or
missing. This is correct way, but people (or e-mail clients) often copy From

I'm using evolution with an Exchange mailbox (via evolution-mapi). I also use
address book from Exchange server. In most cases I write plain text e-mails.
When I write an e-mail to John Smith john.sm...@matrix.net, I get
following set of headers:

  To: john.sm...@matrix.net john.sm...@matrix.net
  Subject: test
  Reply-To: iFred if...@somecompany.com
  From: iFred if...@somecompany.com
  Message-ID: ...
  Content-Type: ...
  Date: Tue, 29 Mar 2011 12:26:20 +0200
  Mime-Version: 1.0

  Two things here are wrong:
  1. In To header email address is used as recipient name, while in address
book and during message editing it is displayed in correct way e.g. John Smith
john.sm...@matrix.net
By the way, if address of John Smith is in server address book and has a
shortcut like josm, this shortcut is used as recipient name.
- 2. Reply-To header is present, but I left this field empty both in setup
and during message editing. As I understand, if I want to receive replies to
the same address from which I write e-mails, Reply-To header should empty or
missing. This is correct way, but people (or e-mail clients) often copy From
header to Reply-To header.

[Bug 739375] [NEW] Wrong printer drivers list behavior

2011-03-21 Thread iFred
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: system-config-printer-gnome

Description:Ubuntu 10.10
Release:10.10

system-config-printer-gnome:
  Installed: 1.2.3+20100723-0ubuntu8.1
  Candidate: 1.2.3+20100723-0ubuntu8.1
  Version table:

100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 1.2.3+20100723-0ubuntu8 0
500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages

I tried to set up a network printer, an HP LaserJet 1320. I used Select
printer form database method.
I selected make HP, then switched to driver selection screen. There I found
my printer in Model column and got list of 8 entries in Drivers column.

What is wrong with Drivers column:
1. When I hold mouse over any entry _below_ selected entry, wrong pop-up hint
is displayed (related to some other entry). Selected entry also has wrong hint.
2. When I select an entry and press Forward button, the entry above selected is
actually used.

Also there is some weird stuff with (recommended) word.

[Bug 546578] Re: black screen after a few user switches

2010-05-22 Thread iFred
** Description changed:

  [Problem]
Up-to-date Lucid with radeon driver. After switching user a few times
(usually between 3 and 5 times), the screen goes black with only the mouse
cursor visible after entering the user's password. VTs are also completely
black. Restarting gdm fixes the issue, and nothing odd appears in XOrg.0.log
when the black screen occurs.

  - It also happens with KMS disabled.
  - It also happens with compiz disabled for all users.

- [Workaround]
+ [Workaround] 1
  Uninstall gnome-screensaver (see bug #555870 - something gnome-screensaver
does is triggering this X bug)
+ [Workaround] 2
+ Blindfold: Unlock session by typing password, then press Alt-F2 (call
Run ... dialog), then type xgamma -gamma 1.0 and hit Enter
+ [Workaround] 3
+ Update gnome-screensaver to 2.30.0-0ubuntu2 or higher (yet in proposed repo).
Those versions are compiled with disabled fade on lock.
