I am on the HP 830 G6 and with 'options snd-hda-intel index=0 model
=laptop-dmic' I finally see the microphone appearing in pavucontrol.
However, I cannot get the microphone/input working.
Currently, I have the following lines added to make at least output
sound working and *see* the microphone
Confirmed that the error is back on (X)Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS and fwupd

Same here on HP 820 G2. None of the kernels seem to have the issue.
If you follow my suggested solution from post #5, you won't have a graphical
interface, but a text console to enter the key.

graphics. After I entered the passphrase correctly, I saw a few lines running
over the screen, I normally do not see (if everything works correctly).

I commented out the timeout for grub, in case I need to make some changes on
