[Bug 1507484] Re: Window Graphics Corrupted for Skype

2015-12-09 Thread vilbara
I can confirm that using java 8 (openjdk) on 15.10 fixes rendering
problems in skype. However one minor corruption occurs in IntelliJ IDEA
itself when running on java 8 (openjdk) (see screen-shot).

After upgrade to 16.04 as of 8 Dec 2015, none of java versions cause any
corruption in skype, however now both java versions - 7 and 8 (openjdk)
- exhibit the corruption in IntelliJ IDEA as in the attached screen-
shot.

[Bug 1507484] Re: Window Graphics Corrupted for Skype

2015-11-19 Thread vilbara
I haven't got to test the latest daily build yet (no free USB stick around at
the moment), but I've noticed quite strange dependency:
Once window corruption problems occur in skype or spotify, they are solved
immediately if I close IntelliJ IDEA (a java-based app).

I cannot say yet if corruption ever occurs in skype/spotify when
IntelliJ IDEA is closed.

Unfortunately, I was too fast to report success - corruption still
occurs:

sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

A15

Corruption looks like parts of skype window are not redrawn properly. I've
attached another example screen-shot.

[Bug 687532] [NEW] No borderless printing for HP 6500

2010-12-08 Thread vilbara
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hplip

Less than 2 months ago I've bought HP Officejet 6500 E709n printer and
was able to select A4 Borderless format in Ubuntu 10.10. Printing
worked great. Now this format disappeared from the selection list and I
am not able to print borderless A4.

I've only done regular Ubuntu updates.

2010-04-30 Thread vilbara
Same problem on my Dell Inspiron 510m.

(tried to report a bug 10 minutes ago but launchpad reported timeout and
I lost my report)

Notebook freezes at boot after the upgrade to 10.04. Ubuntu logo is
shown shortly and then it freezes on blank screen. Only hard switch-
off helps.

In rescue mode I am able to drop to shell but safe-X doesn't start. If I
manually start gdm by /etc/init.d/gdm start, it freezes.

I am still able to boot using old kernel from 9.10 and everything seems
to work fine.

[Bug 569396] [NEW] Monospace italic font is not monospace in java (regression)

2010-04-24 Thread vilbara
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: fontconfig

First noticed in IntelliJ IDEA (java IDE): All italic text in editor is
non-monospace in ubuntu 10.04. It has always been monospace in all
previous versions of ubuntu.

Can be reproduced in JEdit too:
1. Open/Create any.sh file
2. Type in two lines:
_miii
#miii
3. Go to Utilities- Quick Settings - Edit syntax style of token under caret
and select italic (so comments will be shown italic).

Result: Width of two lines is different, non-monospace font is used.
Expected: Comments are italic but still monospace.

[Bug 561239] [NEW] Evolution through localhost proxy doesn't work

2010-04-12 Thread vilbara
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

At work, Internet is accessed through NTLM-authenticated proxy.
Therefore, I run ntlmaps proxy and configure it in evolution.

It works fine if ntlmaps proxy is run on another host (e.g. my-other-
computer:5865) but doesn't work if it is run on localhost:5865.

Firefox and other applications have no problem using proxy at
localhost:5865.

[Bug 483309] Re: firefox 3.5 freezes. also ubuntu 9.1 does not wake up after sleep with firefox open

The behaviour I observe may be related:

Firefox doesn't work correctly after resume. The application itself

Sleep and resume works perfectly fine if I close Firefox before sleep
and open it after resume.

[Bug 115426] Re: Computer name is not recognized by DHCP of FRITZ!Box

This bug has been partly fixed in the recent Ubuntu versions (don't

Now there is an option to specify DHCP Client ID in the System

Is there any chance ubuntu could set host name as default value for

[Bug 442163] [NEW] Dell Inspiron 510m freezes when lid is closed

2009-10-04 Thread vilbara
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Regression bug in 9.10 beta. Dell Inspiron 510m freezes when lid is
closed. It worked fine on previous ubuntu versions.

I assume this is not a problem with suspend, but rather key/event
handling. Suspend works fine if I press suspend key combination
(Fn+Esc) on keyboard. However, closing notebook lid always freezes the
notebook and I have to switch it off the hard way (press power button
and keep holding it).

This bug is especially annoying when I start shutdown sequence and then
close the lid before notebook is switched off.

Yes, this bug is still valid for ntlmaps.

Looks like there have been no development activity of ntlmaps for the

the bug).

More info.

Sound control works fine from Volume control in gnome. Mute LED
indicator on sound key is correctly switched on/off when muting/un-
muting sound from Volume control.

[Bug 106198] Re: Wakeup after suspend to RAM not working

2008-10-22 Thread vilbara
I have HP Compaq nx8220 as well.

Sleep mode was not working since ages (~2.5 years) for me. However when
I switched to 8.10 beta (I think mid september) it started to work!

Now it stopped to work again, I think from last Thursday or Friday
(2008-10-16/17).

Even more, sound buttons stopped to work too.

I have up to date 8.10 beta (2008-10-22 13:15 GMT).

[Bug 116178] Re: ntlmaps process should be started with hihger niceness

2008-10-14 Thread vilbara
I've just moved from ntlmaps to cnltm. Performance is SO MUCH BETTER.

Configuration was straightforward with only one tiny problem: I needed
to run tool manually once with -M option to find out that I need to
uncomment Auth LM in /etc/cntlm.conf file.

[Bug 247364] Re: Some emails are not displayed but are saved in the mailbox file

2008-10-10 Thread vilbara
I can confirm this behavior with MS Exchange server accessed over IMAP.
New messages are not shown in Evolution's INBOX.

Closing evolution, removing .evolution/mail/imap/... directory and
starting evolution helps - it works then for some time, e.g. half a day
and then stops displaying new messages again.

This started when I updated to Ubuntu 8.10 beta.

Thank you exactt! Your solution works for me.

Do you know how to solve the problem when I have and use 2 network cards

[Bug 21413] Re: Proposals for Swap Partition too small for Hibernation to work scenario

2007-10-18 Thread vilbara
I have Not enough free swap problem as well. Interesting part is that
I have more SWAP than RAM:

Mem: 1555688 4994761056212 0 20296 74972
-/+ buffers/cache: 4042081151480
Swap: 1975912 3260721649840

I assume this is because my swap is split over 2 partitions - one ~626MB
size and the other ~1349MB.

[Bug 119315] Re: [gutsy] udevd hogs the processor and spams /var/log/messages

2007-10-06 Thread vilbara
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 115616 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/115616

I had the same problem but even worse. My /home is mounted on other
partition and it was not mounted at all. I couldn't login with my normal
account and I haven't set password for root. CTRL+ALT+F1/Fn console
was not usable because of device-mapper messages.

Removing evms-* helped.

[Bug 116178] ntlmaps process should be started with hihger niceness

2007-05-22 Thread vilbara
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ntlmaps

Currently ntlmaps runs with niceness of 0. For any reason the process
consumes a lot of CPU when http connection is active over the proxy. So
much CPU that GUI responsiveness degrades dramatically if 3 or more
pages are being loaded simultaneously in Firefox. The solution is to
renice ntlmaps process. http connection performance doesn't degrade and
this fixes computer responsiveness.

I usually add -N 19 to the /etc/init.d/ntlmaps startup script so
startup section looks as following:

  start)
echo -n Starting $DESC:
start-stop-daemon --start -N 19 --quiet --pidfile /var/run/$NAME.pid \
--background --exec $DAEMON -- $DAEMON_OPTS
echo $NAME.
;;

[Bug 115426] Re: Computer name is not recognized by DHCP of FRITZ!Box

2007-05-18 Thread vilbara
Some more explanation why this is a bug.

I use 3 computers at home. They all get their IP addresses through DHCP
from FRITZ!Box DSL router. IP addresses sometimes change. Especially
because I use both - cable and WLAN. There is no way to connect from
one computer to the other using hostname. This is very annoying.

[Bug 115426] Computer name is not recognized by DHCP of FRITZ!Box

2007-05-18 Thread vilbara
Public bug reported:

I have a FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7170, Firmware-Version 29.04.29 DSL router
at home.

Computer name is not registered when booting Ubuntu (up-to-date 7.04).
It works correctly on Windows.

Looks like DHCP server on FRITZ!Box doesn't receive correct hostname. It
doesn't matter if I use cable or WLAN.

I don't know why but this plugin is disabled by default. You may enable
it by selecting Edit/Plugins menu entry from Evolution.

[Bug 94600] Re: Juniper Network Connect SSL VPN Locks up either Firefox or Epiphany

2007-03-27 Thread vilbara
I've got it running on my Edgy after following instructions on this page:
http://www.flexion.org/site/index.php?gadget=StaticPageaction=Pageid=50

Juniper Network Connect SSL is based on Java but seems that it uses some
native code too. Therefore these steps are necessary:
sudo apt-get install openssl libmotif3 libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libssl.so.0.9.7 /usr/lib/libssl.so.2
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.7 /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.2
sudo ldconfig
