Using Dell Inspiron 15 3521 with Intel HD 4000 and an external monitor on
HDMI output, in 15.04 beta 2:
when closing the lid of the laptop, the laptop does not go to sleep (suspend
to ram) as expected, but instead stays on, with the external monitor still on.

Public bug reported:
When you perform an installation with Live CD (possibly other methods
too), you end up with a /etc/default/rcS file that is not properly set
if you have RTC clock set to UTC
The UTC variable in /etc/default/rcS is nonetheless set to no.
This leads to wrong time clock on boot
the RTC clock was kept in UTC. This gave a wrong time at boot, and
possibly shoke fsck about a superblock in the future.
Once I changed UTC to yes in /etc/default/rcS, I was able to remove the
fsck.mode=skip as they were no more 30s delay during boot.
FIXED !
** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu)
sorry to spam here but this is working now. I don't know why sometimes
it works and sometimes not. (I mean working with the systemd work-around
enabled in /etc/systemd/logind.conf)
Another problem when it's working is that the laptop screen brightness
is reverted to maximum and that controls from

So this seems to be a new feature of systemd (introduced in systemd

Changing HandleLidSwitchDocked to suspend in /etc/systemd/logind.conf
"fixed" the problem; that is I get the expected behavior that when

so I removed the bcache LUKS device thing from the equation:
I commented it out the relevant line for home in /etc/crypttab and /etc/fstab
to use a dummy empty folder for /home on the main root SSD partition
and rebooted

$ systemd-analyze blame|head -5
this still happens randomly on 15.04 beta 2, I mean cryptkeeper running
or crashing.

when the lid is closed, I can see in Display Settngs or with xrandr that
the integrated screen (ldvs) is off.
If I use "Suspend" in the "cog" menu, the laptop goes to sleep normally.
