I just tried Ubuntu Hardy Beta.
Both displays are seperately detected, and can be individually rotated.
However, using the Ubuntu configuration tools it's not possble to
configure dualhead. Only clone.

This is a known problem. It is possible to configure dual head with xrandr
(http://intellinuxgraphics.org/dualhead.html) but atm not with the GUI tools.
Since clone mode works out of the box I guess this bug report is the wrong
place for this wishlist bug. Please search or open a new bug
I tried it but it doesn't change anything when I set a resolution or not
on my external screen : the screen remain off.

linux-image-2.6.24-12-generic 2.6.24-12.22, and rebooted my computer and now it
works !
The output on gnome-display-properties is exactely the same except timestamps.
Using the fn key and clone mode, the external monitor
Marking as fixed. The not working monitor switch key is a different
issue which is probably reported under Bug #144225. Feel free to open it
again if it still happens with current Hardy.

It doesn't work for me on a laptop using intel G945, and an external display
connected through VGA port (look at bug #193419).
I use hardy alpha6. The external monitor doesn't switch on.

Btw. please use the tool System - Preferences - Screen resolution for testing.
Xrandr shows both displays in your log so it should work. Just plug both
monitors before start and they should be enabled in clone mode.
