longer had the issues since Kubuntu 9.04.

fix the same problem in Sabayon/Gentoo.
In my Sabayon build, I was able to fix this problem by building with
'chardet' enabled (--enable-chardet).
Apparently, this enabled a universal character detection feature. I'm

I had this bug, too (using Hardy with audacious 1.5.0-2).
First, there were some files with an ampersand in their name which could not be
played, but some of them worked. Additionally, those files differed in that
audacious couldn't show the track details (right click on song - View Track
it appears that this problem only occurs on xspf playlists. reloading one of
those doesn't play the file.
This is because audacious saves the ampersand characters in the playlist file:

I have a similar problem, not only with files that contain ampersand in
the path, but with all files. That is, if I add some files, audacious is
able to play them. When I close audacious and reopen, it's unable to
play any of the files in the list (which means that the continue
playback on
I don't see this on the hardy release audacious. do you still
experience this problem?
