[Bug 270346] Re: Messages are sent with wrong identity when using multiple identities

2010-11-14 Thread Artem Gabrielyan
thunderbird 3.0.10
I have noticed that in Edit - Account settings there is a parameter named
Outgoing Server (SMTP) for each account. The parameter works nicely, I think
the bug is solved for me :)

[Bug 270346] Re: Messages are sent with wrong identity when using multiple identities

2010-09-16 Thread Artem
Ubuntu 10.04
Thunderbird 3.0.7
Two years later the bug is still there (yesterday was bug's anniversary! :)
I have two accounts with two different SMTP servers. No matter what account is
the default for sending email (Edit - Account settings - Outgoing server
(SMTP) settings), no matter what account I choose to send from (when composing
a letter), mail sending is always done via *first* SMTP in the list (Edit -
Account settings - Outgoing server (SMTP) settings).

[Bug 270346] Re: Messages are sent with wrong identity when using multiple identities

2009-05-06 Thread Christopher
I am having this problem on Ubuntu Linux 8.10 64-bit with Thunderbird
Version 2.0.0.21 (20090318). It keeps sending my work e-mail from my
personal address even though I have my work e-mail selected to send
from. Both are on IMAP and I am sending via a different SMTP server than
the mail server. It is very annoying; please find this bug!

Update: I find that my SMTP login name, which happens to be an e-mail
address, is being used as the from e-mail instead of my account e-mail
address. I am using an alternate SMTP account.

After some more thought, if not a bug, this might be an issue with the
SMTP server re-writing the from address with the account you
authenticate with.

[Bug 270346] Re: Messages are sent with wrong identity when using multiple identities

2009-01-01 Thread Keith Moyer
It appears I spoke too soon before. This bug is _not_ fixed, and still
occurs in 2.0.0.18+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.10.1. It seems also that when
replying to a message sent to one account, if you change the From: to
a second account (note, not a second identity on the first account), the
address of the first account is still in the email header. It does,
however, place the message in the Sent folder for the second account.

It seems there are all sorts of problems in choosing a From address
that isn't the main address of the account that is selected when opening
the compose window.

[Bug 270346] Re: Messages are sent with wrong identity when using multiple identities

2008-12-27 Thread John Vivirito
If you set the identities correctly than restart thunderbird you
shouldn't see this issue. In the preferences you should see Manage
Identities and add them for each one. than when you go to send them you
should have a drop down at the from line and choose the address you wan
to use.

This is a test you should set up as above. This seems to be more of a
profile area so if the above instructions doesn't work please use mv
~/.mozilla-thunderbird ~/.mozilla-thunderbird-backup

so you can always go back if the new profiler doesnt work if it doesn't use
mv ~/.mozilla-thunderbird ~/.mozilla-thunderbird

Please restart tbird after each step

2008-12-27 Thread Mark Dwyer
John,

Thank you for your reply. After I sent this bug report I realized
that I sent it to the wrong place. I am having problems with
evolution, not thunderbird. Thunderbird is working great, and does
not have this problem. I have resent this bug report to evolution.
Again thanks for your reply. I think this bug can be considered
resolved, at least as far as thunderbird goes.

This worked fine in Windows XP but I recently switch to Ubuntu (8.04 aka
Hardy Heron) and am now observing the following behavior:

I have two email addresses that wind up in the same mailbox. I have two
identities configured for that email account, one for each email address that
I use. One is a work address and one is a personal address. It seems
that no matter which identity I choose for sending email it always winds up
 being from my work address.

Another symptom, which might be related, is under XP Thunderbird would do a
good job of not including my email address on a Reply to All. Now I'm
seeing my own email address on the recipients list despite the fact that it's
the address that is showing up for my identity.

[Bug 270346] Re: Messages are sent with wrong identity when using multiple identities

2008-12-26 Thread Mark Dwyer
I have two separate IMAP accounts I am accessing from evolution
(2.24.2). They use different SMTP accounts. On the Account Editor page,
neither account has Make this my Default Account selected. Even so,
in the Evolution Preferences window Acct #1 is listed as the default
account. When I select the Inbox for Acct #2, and compose a new
message, the default identity is that of Acct #1. There is a scroll bar
in the From field that allows me to select Acct #2 as my identity, but
if I forget to do this it is sent from the (wrong) identity - Acct #1.

A work-around for this is to create a third, dummy account that is not
activated, and to make this the default account. Then my From field is
blank. Then the message cannot be sent unless I manually select (the
appropriate) identity.

I note that Thunderbird selects identities based on whichever Inbox is
highlighted.

This bug appears to be fixed (for me) in 2.0.0.18+nobinonly-
0ubuntu0.8.10.1. The correct address is now in the from field when
using an identity address.

I can confirm this same problem on Ubuntu 8.10. No matter what identity
I choose when writing an email the main identity's email address shows
up in the from field. I can also confirm that this behavior works
properly in the Windows version of Thunderbird.

[Bug 270346] Re: Messages are sent with wrong identity when using multiple identities

2008-09-14 Thread Parthan SR
Thank you for taking your time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Have you setup two SMTP servers in Edit Preferences Outgoing Server
(SMTP)? Are the POP/IMAP accounts pointed to their related SMTP
accounts? When you click on [EMAIL PROTECTED] in Preferences window, the
last option is Outgoing Server and this should have the SMTP account
you wish to use for that particular mail account.

Does both the mail accounts deliver the mails to the same inbox in Local
Folders? Thanks in advance.

The same inbox using IMAP. One just forwards to the other.
