Greetings, I am having the same exact problem as every user above my
post. Network Manager sees "New GSM conncetion", and it walks me thru
the setup for AT&T LaptopConnect (using 'broadband' as the APN). But it
never ever connects successfully. I have tried this on Ubuntu 12.04,
and now I am eve
Could those of you still having troubles with this please tell which
Ubuntu version you use, and the output of "lsusb".

Freshly installed Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10 Karmic on a Dell Mini 10
(Inspiron 1010) that came with Dell 5530 HSDPA Card.
Network Manager detected the card, shows the carrier, but can't connect.
I have also tried to configure wvdial manually but no success, the modem
keeps telling that I'm sending
Just installed Karmic on dell studio 17 with 5530 wwan card. Network

Hi,
this bug is not fixed yet. Not for me. :-(

Provider: t-mobile (de)
Trying to connect, takes 15 seconds. thereafter network manager shows
message that connection was canceled.
I attach the nm-serial.txt. The last lines is the connection try.

I'm having a different behavior: my connections SOMETIMES work direct
via Network Manager, mostly of the times not.
The syslog output for a working and not-working sessions is exactly the
same. In both cases it activates the modem, finds the carrier, uses ppp

I have just upgraded to Alpha 6 of Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty) on my ThinkPad
T400 and the problem has disappeared. Meaning, it's been fixed. The
Network Manager can connect with Vodafone UK broadband and all
applications are online.

I'm also a T400 owner, with the danish provider Sonofon.
Same story, configured wvdial manually. I usually use vpn (cisco and
others) via networkmanager. I'm not capable to set vpn up with the
connection enabled with wvdial.
My wvdial.conf:

I confirm this issue does also occur on ThinkPad T400 bundled with
Vodafone broadband package. The laptop is equipped with Ericsson F3507G

I reproduced the problem with my Dell 5530 card. The three auto-
generated options produce a slightly different output, so I clicked them
one after another. I'll attach the syslog, nm-serial-log and a working
wvdial.conf (first "on", then "connect").
