[Bug 405525] Re: [Hewlett-Packard HP Pavilion ze2000 (EC205UA#ABA)] suspend/resume failure

2010-03-13 Thread Jeremy Foshee
Hi tad.mcdearmont,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a
Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically
gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 405525

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your
results.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 405525] Re: [Hewlett-Packard HP Pavilion ze2000 (EC205UA#ABA)] suspend/resume failure

2009-11-21 Thread Felix
Sorry, I was mistaken. Suspend worked, because after installing and
uninstalling the fglrx-driver via envy, the vesa-driver was used in the
xorg.conf. in reality, none of the above mentioned methods had an effect. now
it got even worse. when the ati driver is used, the screen stays black at
startup. but: this does not happen, if i start in single mode and start gdm
manually with service gdm start...
maybe it's a bug in the ati-driver. the fglrx-driver won't work at all.

suspend/resume failure

I also have an HP Pavillon ZE2000. In Jaunty resume from suspend worked more or
less mostly. Sometimes the screen stayed black after resume. In Hardy or
Intrepid it worked fine with the depecated acpi-support-method.
I could solve the problem adding
acpi_sleep=s3_bios vga=0
as kernel options.
Now it works fine.

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: New

Bug description:
Under 8.10 suspend worked pretty much flawlessly. Installed Karmic as 9.04 my
sound card would not work for some reason. may end up going back to 8.10 as My
vid card is not supported anymore by ATI after that version. but that is not
here nor there. tried to wake up my laptop like normal. system stayed at black
screen. backlight sis not come on. I know this is alpha and I am not mad but I
am reporting this so the developers know it. I have no idea what caused the
problem but hopefully the bug catcher included stuff to help trace it. If not
please delete this bug as I have no other Idea what could have caused it.

Thanks for making a great product. I have used Ubuntu since 6.06 and
have watched it get better and better every release (with exception to
9.04) ;)

thanks again guys.
