Loic, do you have cycles to check this for maverick?

This would be good to have in Maverick. Is anything blocking it now?

As stated in my comment above
gpsd (2.92-2) unstable; urgency=low
* [554ff5f1] Remove libxt-dev, lesstif2-dev, libxaw7-dev from Build-
Deps. This is necessary to allow gpsd to go into Ubuntu main.
Unfortunately there is no working xgpsspeed replacement right now,
but this will
Thanks Bernd. Jonathan, is this still something you want to push into
lucid at this late stage? Or is it for maverick now?

I've uploaded 2.92-1 to Debian, which still contains lesstif, but is really the
first usable release, the current svn snapshot in Ubuntu is far away from being
optimal. As soon as -1 has settled (and I hope also migrated to Ubuntu, even if
Ubuntu is frozen), I'll upload -2 which comes without
Bug ping (to stop automatic expiration), no action needed, still waiting
on new upstream version.

As it seems the lesstiff stuff will be gone in 2.91, which I expect to
see in Debian unstable before the freeze for Squeeze.

@Bernd, I understand we aren't promoting gpsd for xgps or xgpsspeed;
would it make sense to split gpsd in two modules upstream or in
Debian+Ubuntu: one providing the daemon, bindings and development files,
and the other containing the UI stuff? This might be a way to offer
more toolkits backends

Upstream is not willing to
Upstream is thinking about dropping the lesstiff stuff by rewriting the tools in
pygtk. I'll keep you updated.

This pulls in lesstif2 as a build dependency, which we tried hard to
avoid in the past years (nobody maintains this ancient toolkit). Can
gpsd be built without Motif support?

Only if xgps and xgpsspeed would be removed from the gpsd-clients package.
Especially xgps is a
