David Horton, thank you for your comment. So your hardware and problem may be
tracked, could you please file a new report with Ubuntu by executing the
following in a terminal while booted into the default Ubuntu kernel (not a
mainline one) via:

karlrt, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Maverick
reached EOL on April 10, 2012.
Please see this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:

We were wondering if this is still an issue in a supported release? If
so, can you try

This bug has gone stale for almost a full year, yet I am still affected,
on 3.2.12. Has this been reported upstream? Any related bugs or
duplicates?

I am having the same problem as Leif Walsh. There was no such behavior
with 10.04. It started when I upgraded (using update-manager) to 10.10,
and continues even after upgrading to 11.04.
After resuming and during unlocking the screen, the mouse and everything
works fine for a few seconds. Then

Just wanted to say, that this bug is highly annoying. Ubuntu is unable
to suspend/resume more that 3 times without killing all my input
devices. It wasn't an issue before 10.10. Did every one having this
issue dist-upgrade? or install from scratch? Might affect the issue.
Many lenovos comes with
Hmm, suspend/resume issues generally tend to be kernel bugs. In this
case it sounds like the resume process is taking too long (maybe blocked
loading another driver like wireless or something?) So... I *think*
this may not be an X issue after all. I'll refile to the kernel.
FWIW, there is some
Hey karlrt,
Hi, have you had a chance to test if this bug is still present in natty?
If it does (and if you're the original reporter), please boot into natty
and run the command:
apport-collect bug-number
which will update the bug with fresh logs and tag the bug as affecting
natty. (It is
I've moved to arch but I can still confirm this on 2.6.38 and X 1.10.1.
It seems distribution-agnostic, has it been reported upstream?

seems to have resolved in some of the last few updates. Still going on

Also affects me. Please let me know if there is any debug information I
can collect to track this down. It has been happening at least since
Lucid, maybe earlier.
The behavior I see is as follows:
1) suspend
2) resume
3) often (I think only when running on battery), but this may not be true, I
From what I'm experiencing, the trackpoint (and associated mouse buttons
above the touchpad) is usually what goes first and I'm limited to the
trackpad and keyboard. After a few more suspend/resume cycles I'll lose
the trackpad, and in some cases, even the keyboard stops responding
entirely.

Affects me to. Lenovo Thinkpad x201s, Xubuntu 10.10 amd64. Not every
suspend/resume, but the same bug described here.
As a workaround -- maybe unload evdev xorg module before suspend and
load it back after resume? Is it possible?

I got this just now. More than a week since last time. Plugged in a USB
mouse and with that re-suspended the machine. Still not either touchpad
or keyboard after resume. Did it once more, still nothing.

For me, both trackpad and trackpoint are unresponsive for 5-10 seconds
after resume, as per the original bugreport
Additionally, on about half my resumes, the trackpoint (and associated
buttons) don't work at all, but the trackpad does. My usual workaround
for this is to sleep and resume the
+1 for having this on Lenovo. My laptop is a T61p. I haven't really
figured out when it happens but maybe it happens more after I have
suspended many times.
I haven't really noticed that it is unresponsive a little period of time
but only that it does not work at all after a resume from suspend

I have this issue too on my T61. I upgraded to 10.10.
After first suspend-resume, mouse and trackpoint only works after about
5 seconds. Second suspend/resume, the trackpoint stops working at all.
On third suspend/resume, both keyboard and trackpoint are unresponsive,
and remain so until i reboot
