Hi! I also confirm what #85 said: disabling the Hardware Acceleration in Firefox makes the system usable. I was one step from installing Lubuntu... But, there is still some problems related: Compiz uses lots of memory and the 6% of the CPU (and any little move increases it to 20% or more).

I get this under Ubuntu 11.04 running Unity. Windows are smooth for a variable period of time, and then become jerky. Other Unity functions such as sidebar auto-hide and workspace switching remain smooth. I have not found a combination of nvidia-settings and ccsm settings that ameliorate this
