[Bug 823155]
Dear Buovjaga, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone! (In reply to Luke from comment #32) > Julien's on the right track. If you create slide with an Animation Sound > Effect and save it, it will work. If you copy that file to a different > directory, the sound will no longer play. The reason why there was so much > confusion over this bug, is that sound effect work until the file that they > were created in is moved to a new location. This is not true. If you create a custom animation with a sound effect from the LibO gallery *on Linux*, it will not work at any point. You don't have to save, you don't have to move the file - it just won't work. Salamu Alaikum, I've tested the two versions of LibreOffice Impress. The first one (LO-5.2.3.1) on Debian 9 Stretch 64bits and the second one (5.2.3.3) on Win XP 32bits. Here is the link to both versions : https://www.dropbox.com/s/rigc2ctg71iel38/LibreOfficeVersions.png?dl=0 I Confirm, There is no sound, even without moving the created ODP Animation file. I've tried to open the content.xml inside the ODP animation; and replace all sounds links with the Complete path from Root of my partition /home/myuser/Documents/MySoundFile.flac But still no sound! This is a serious bug that has now some years without being solved. Couple things on this: Reopened is only for a bug that has been confirmed, assigned to a developer, developer claims it's FIXED, and after that point someone says "no it's not" - this bug was never FIXED. The slideshow played the sound. When I loaded the demo file and reselected a different sound, the slide played the correct custom animation sound during the slideshow. Last comment didn't post correctly: I'm not sure I can believe that this is actually true. Are you saying that there is a bug in LibreOffice which prevents sounds on custom animations, and that this bug has been present for *THREE YEARS*, and is still not fixed, and is set to priority *MEDIUM*? I'm sorry, but that is completely baffling to me. Playing audio along with individual slide events (not just slide transiitions) is a basic and fundamental feature of slideshow software. Slideshow software that does not have this feature has not yet reached public beta quality, let alone version 4.1. You cannot expect people to use Impress over alternatives with this bug in place. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/823155 Title: [Upstream] Impress Custom Animation Sound Effect not audible in Slide Show To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/df-libreoffice/+bug/823155/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

vulc...@gmx.com: no, the problem with not including the file in the presentation is another issue altogether (but related). This concerns custom animation, and the sound effects do not play at all (let alone get embedded in the slide show). I think the whole multimedia system for Libreoffice could be in need of being redone, though this is no small task. Re: [Bug 823155] Re: [Upstream] Impress Custom Animation Sound Effect not audible in Slide Show
"If one does not make bugs this way, it is highly frowned upon, and it is not likely the bug will be addressed quickly." If programmers are able to fluently program in java, c and c++, then they would easily know how to test a simple bug in a program they themselves developed! It is clear what Stanley is trying to say, if you create an object (e.g. word art, test, shapes etc.), go click on Custom Animation in the sidebar, click Add, choose an effect from the list, click OK, click '...' to go into effect options, pick a sound, click ok, press F5 to run the show and find that custom animation sounds don't work.
[Bug 823155] Re: [Upstream] Impress Custom Animation Sound Effect not audible in Slide Show
Thank you for your guidance. I have tried to be a descriptive as possible but unorganized as you have shown. I have no idea what bug it was in the very beginning. I wrote a question and started from there. Thought it was Ubuntu sound system at first as it affect all Ubuntu version I have tried. Updating LibreOffice did not get rid of the bug hence the assumption. Then I was ushered here. I am happy that you have taken the time to interact with me. If this very long time bug (which is true in Ubuntu) can be over come, impress can be more useful during presentation. It will be a very good first impression to the audience. :-) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/823155 Title: [Upstream] Impress Custom Animation Sound Effect not audible in Slide Show To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/df-libreoffice/+bug/823155/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 823155] Re: [Upstream] LibreOffice Impress built-in sound effects produce sound to short, like being cutoff too soon, making some effect never have the chance to produce sound.
** Description changed: - The built-in sound effects (for e.g. apert, laser) add in the "Custom - Animation" effects have no chance to produce the sound properly as they - were cut off to soon. Sound like "laser" is able to produce a very short - burst in the beginning but was cut off as quickly. But "apert" don't - have the chance to make any sound. - - Background sound added in the "Slide Transition" "sound" option is - functioning OK and played back as expected until the end or stopped. - - Videos also played back without any problem with sound with no similar - problem. + The built-in sound effect apert in the "Custom Animation" effects + produces a very short burst in the beginning but was cut off as quickly. + Apert does not have the chance to make any sound. I am using Ubuntu 11.04 Natty. I have tested this in Ubuntu 10.10 with OpenOffice.org presentation (Impress), same problem too. Now I have install Ubuntu 11.10 beta from DVD with libreoffice 3.4.2, updated to today. Tried impress LibreOffice 3.4.2 OOO340m1 (Build:203). Create a blank slide and add sound effect eg. laser, apert. The problem still there. No sound but pulse indicate impress played the sound but displayed the status lightning fast.
