Appears to be the same bug, in any case, my system hangs every single time at
reboot without exception. Is there anything I can attach to help?
Workaround does not work for me, by the way.

Title:
tried the reboot=pci fix suggested above. computer still hangs when
shutting down as described above. HOWEVER, i swear the fix suggested has
made my computer more responsive. is it my imagination or does anyone
else notice that their computer runs faster by adding reboot=pci ?

and well, this workaround was intended to fix only hangs on rebooting on
some hardware (like Dell): as you found it doesn't fix shutdown hangs.

news is that, I am able to reboot without the system hanging, and if i
don't login, shutdown works too. But if I login and open any application

Till now I can say, that this workaround doesn't work on my machine. But
what i figured out is, that the shudown hangs if the computer runs long.
If I try to shutdown it right after logging on, system shut down fine.

Ok, eventually I found a fix for this, which should work for many Dell
machines (and this is important for remotely controlled machines as a
reboot would otherwise require a manual intervention or a power-cycle).
To fix it, I simply had to add the following kernel parameter to the
boot line:
@ ...
As I'm not familiar with LaunchPad, could somebody tell me how to correctly
change this bug status and getting this informations available as a general KB?
