I can confirm this on my 64-bit system (latest Intrepid) as well.
double-clicking and file-open both get me Could not determine type of

re-create it.

I did a fresh install of Intrepid Ibex 8.10 beta 5 on my IBM Thinkpad X31 and I
don't have any problem with the WIFI (Cisco aironet 802.11B).
I don't need to blacklist the modules anymore (has I had to do with Hardy).

I tested a bit further with as Wireless USB device, reported by lsusb as
a ZyDAS 802.11b/g USB2 WiFi.

I have to know first which version of kdenetwork this should be. All
packages of KDE 3.5.9 or nor now the packages for 3.5.10?
apt tells me that kopete for 3.5.9 will be removed if I would install
the kdenetwork-dbg-package. I guess I could install that package

I've tested 8.10 alpha 5 live CD and the bug REMAINS. I've booted 3
times always with maximum brightness but after logging out the screen
was darker. Also, when the monitor turns of after some idle time and you
wake it, the brightness is lower.

As it was an X error it may well be hardware dependent.

Yes, glitch-free gets disabled automatically, if your setup doesnt
support it. You need at least ALSA 1.0.17 and Linux 2.6.27 (or 2.6.26
with certain patched applied). The OSS backend doesnt support glitch-
free at all.

It therefore doesn't appear in intrepid, the current development
