Re-added the network with the new 8 chars passwd and managed to connect just
fine.
So after all it seems only a problem of letting password length < 8 as

I installed ubuntu 15.04 from scratch and discovered that it is not
possible to edit krdc bookmarks. After raising a bug on the KDE bug
tracker and finding out what might cause the problem, I discovered that
the /usr/bin/keditbookmarks binary is in the kdebase-bin package,
@aizac, thanks again, but unfortunately I don't see hints in those logs.
Could you please also attach /var/log/syslog after doing the same steps
of comment #3 (send a MMS to the phone and wait for a while)?

I still disagree that it's "undefined behaviour" -- if we have used the
actual init.d script so far to start e. g. mysql under upstart, then
this does not sound either racy nor undefined; it surely isn't what we
*intended* to do, though?
My concern is, this fix will change behaviour for *all*
