While testing multiple displays on an AMD graphic card, it was discovered that
only a single audio output device is available in the sound settings on Ubuntu
14.04.03/04. Issue is not seen on Ubuntu 15.04/10.

This is most likely acpi related as I can boot with acpi=off and the freeze

Nah, the important stuff in that new Debian upload is already included
in the lo-dicts source in the PPA, so rebasing wouldn't be worth the
extra work. We'll still be able to truly sync after the Xenial release,
so let's stick with what's there now.
