I toyed around a bit based on the post #11 from Alkis Georgopoulos
(thank you for that, vala-panel-appmenu.sh is indeed the culprit, that was
really really helpful)
One solution is change the exec line in the desktop file like: env
GTK_MODULES=glade glade %f
this is one solution that works.

Fix the video can't output through WD19TB connected

Last month, I installed Ubuntu 20.04, with KDE (KUbuntu). Today, I used
Synaptic to install gl-117. The first time I ran the program, my
monitor screen went black, and displayed the message "Input Signal Out
Of Range." The message also said "Change settings to 1600 x 900."
I'm reported this using an older computer. But, at this time, I'm unable
to try using the monitor from this computer on my computer. The old
monitor uses VGA, and my computer does not have a VGA port.
I should not have to buy or change hardware as the result of a software
bug.
