For clarity, when I talk about libssl being removed above, I am
referring specifically to libssl1.1. Looking at the logs (and various
posts online), it looks like there is a move from libssl1.1 to libssl3
as part of this upgrade which seems to be the source of the issue.

alright, even better, I just downloaded a pre-release of 22.04 and
installed it into gnome box to check if it's my session or not. I
litterally just installed as a virtual machine, didn't change any
setting and the issue is there too (using Wayland).

all Preferences/Settings dialogs. This behaviour looks extremely odd and
is inconsistent with the resizing mechanism for other windows (and
inconsistent with the same windows in Xorg). If I grab the bottom

see it's a feature and not a bug. I would still question why we want
this active by default though considering the lack of consistency with
other windows and Xorg.

That's right, this becomes quite visible with Extension settings as they
can be quite lengthy and the default window size it often too small. I
am not sure I agree with the design choice but I believe that this is
outside of the scope of this bug report so I'm happy for this report to

libssl1.1 deb from Impish but your solution would have worked as well.
It looks like this grubcfg_proxy file gets copied when running grub-
customizer so, presumably, since I didn’t run the tool after the
upgrade, it still had

as $proxy_script already includes the full path. One problem I see is
that, for me at least, the files in the proxifiedScripts folders have
been stripped of their numbers ("10_linux" is called "linux" for

the file in the bin folder isn’t getting updated while libssl is changed

I connected an ESP8266 microcontroller to my pc to use with Arduino.
However, the interface didn't appears to list ttyUSB0. Upon inspection
with dmesg, I noticed that the device is recognised but then brltty
appears to disconnect it.

that's a nice workaround. I still think that there is something odd
going on with the brltty package though as it shouldn't be disconnecting
connections like this.

Hi Michael, my understanding is that proxified scripts are backed up in
proxifiedScripts. If you look at the previous comments, you will find a
short script I proposes which removes the proxy files and put the
original ones back in (unless you saved new ones during upgrade). You
might find the file
I believe that the best course of action would be for the offending
package (brtty) to get fixed. Until it is, perhaps mark is as a conflict
and delete it when people install Arduino.

There is actually a fairly easy solution which doesn’t involve relying on the
scripts above and that’s the one from the very first post which is in in brief:
- download and install libssl1.1 from the Impish archive
(https://packages.ubuntu.com/impish/libssl1.1). It doesn’t look like
same issue here. removing gstreamer1.0-vaapi solved it for Quicktime
MPEG4-AAC files produced by iPhone.
I was getting the same error:
