I didn't use dpkg. I did make make modules make install and make
modules_install (with -j4 option) and then I had to modify
/boot/grub/menu.lst. The kernel will install it self in /boot and
/lib/modules so its not an difficult task to remove it later.

The problem seems to disappear if the kernel option noapic is added. Now
an other problem shows up instead. After a while the kernel says the

I seem to have to seem problem with my dv9398eu. Using the kernel
options noapic irqpoll noirqdebug makes my ehci usb module use 50% of
cpu load. You can see that by running top in a console window and
watch the %id (idle) number. It should be close to 100% when computer

I also found out that if I run gwenview desktop:/1.jpg (from console),
rotate the image and press save all it crashes, but if I run gwenview
~/Skrivbord/1.jpg, rotate the image and press save all, it seems to

We need an option in gnome-power-manager to enable the performance
governor in Ubuntu 8.10. The ondemand governor does not work properly
for everyone. On my Thinkpad T42, flash video playback at fullscreen is
choppy. The cpu will go to max, but not fast enough to prevent choppy
playback. The T42

The new pstopdf works fine for me too as long as I print directly to the

I'd forgotten I'd sent in this bug report.
The issue at heart I think is KDE. I had changed the font that was used for
icons in the icon view, and when using the alternative font (which actually was
just the default font 1px larger), the allocated space for text was
far too small.
