I can confirm this bug, however as some elements differ I'm not sure it is the

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FS415S laptop with a GeForce GO 6400 inside. I also have
drivers version 169.12 and I'm also using TwinView, but I installed them with
jockey (formerly restricted-drivers-manager).

I'm not really sure where to put this. I'm having an issue with your
package, that is, my machine freezes completely when starting a linux
kernel in a VM. I tried booting a VM with several Linux CD images
(Gutsy, latest SuSE, Hardy alpha 1...), and the symptom is always the
same : just at the end

you reported is not a bug because the same behavior can be observed for
any sticky (i.e. shown on all desktops) window. I'm marking this bug as

Moreover I think the affected package is not gnome-power-manager,
because I couldn't find any entry in /proc that enabled setting the
brightness (IIRC it was something like /proc/acpi/sony/brightness in

The problem is fixed with 2.6.31-14-generic. However it is still present
in 2.6.31-9-rt. I guess it wasn't the same problem in the first place,
it just had the same consequences.

This bug is reproducible:
1. Ensure smbfs is not installed (or uninstall it if it is)
2. cd /auto.smb_base_dir/some_server
3. ls displays the shared folder list on the server
4. cd some_shared_folder
5. ls
Observed behaviour:
The second ls command displays the shared folder list on the server.

Memory usage was one of the big issues with Firefox 3.0, and as you
probably noticed, Firefox 3.5 is a lot better at it. I encourage you to
compare what is comparable, and either check memory usage with Firefox
3.0 in Windows, or with Firefox 3.5 in Ubuntu. You can use
Confirmed on Karmic.
You can temporarily solve the problem by creating a symlink : in a terminal,
type
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libnm_glib_vpn.so.0 /usr/lib/libnm-glib-vpn.so.0
and then relaunch nm-applet
