The moving/copying of the rc0/6 scripts doesn't seem to work in Karmic
RC (using wireless). I just get a hang on shutdown with the message

Okay, I think I know what is causing the problem. My user account is
chris. I created a new user on the system (sonya) to test with a
clean user config, and I could not get the new user account to be choppy
on login. Upon examining the config files for user chris, I noticed
that .compiz/session
I should mention: The frequency of choppy logins has increased over
time. I would imagine this is directly related to the number of files
accumulating in the account. When testing, you may need to restart your
computer a few times before you see the bug. For some reason, logging

goes at least as far back as Hardy (I don't have any older Ubuntu discs

I can reproduce the Chrome black flash under KDE's Kwin, but not the
Thunderbird flash to white. In fact, I've never seen anything flash to white
during the fade-out effects in Kwin. Are there any other apps that cause white

The problem as described is now different in Natty. Instead of graphics
corruption, I now experience occasional glyph corruption under the same

DebugWait command, observed in Aquaria (lower fps) and Snes9x (increased
hiccups). The corrupted glyphs seem to be fixed for me as well using

looks and works so much better, especially if you use a unified system theme
such as QtCurve. To do this, remove openoffice.org-kde and install

Hi Christoph,
In /etc/default/grub, make sure you add acpi=off to the line that
begins: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=
So, that line should now read:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash acpi=off
FYI, this works for me on a Dell Inspiron 2650, the only problem being
that the laptop never powers
This is also a problem with the new Ubuntu 10.04 default theme,
Ambience and Thunderbird 3.0.3 (see attached screenshot).

Never mind... just tested again and it's still happening. Don't know
why it was working earlier. I had my lid close event set to blank
screen. When I tested and disconnecting the power didn't blank my
screen any more, I thought I could safely set my lid close event back to
suspend. Now that I
I'm still experiencing the problem as of 10.04 RC1 (with updates as of
4/28/10). My problem is exactly as described by the OP. No CRT monitor
is involved.
