Despite that I have had no support from the community about it, I
discovered that it is not a bug of the microphone itself, but only a
malfunction of the sound configuration form. The problem is that in the
Sound Preferences window, the field Conector is not working. I got
around this problem as
I'm sorry to say that due to the amount of problems that version 11.04
have with my HP Pavilion, I decided to go back to version 10.10. I spent
almost three months trying to solve these problems, but have not had
much success. The community can not provide the needed support, so this
is the only
I re-installed Ubuntu 11.04 from CD and for a few days internal mic worked
fine.
At some moment, I don't know exactly when, it stoped working and pop sound
began.

I have two bad news: the first is that the problem remains in Ubuntu 11.10. The
second is that neither of the workaround suggested here has effect on Ubuntu
11.10. The option now is to open a terminal window and use the command
alsamixer. The internal microphone must be enabled in text mode.

Internal Mic is not working on HP Pavilion dv6000, after a fresh install of

In previous versions (10.10, 10.04, etc) this problem did not happen.
Another (maybe) related problem is a speaker pop whenever audio driver
is used by Totem, Audacity or other

1. Install Google Chrome (or Chromium) web browser
2. Open Chrome and let it open
3. In Nautilus double click a text or calc document to open it in LibreOffice
4. Open some other LibreOffice documents using the same method

After several tests I realized that the problem is not related to
Chrome. Apparently the error occurs when too much memory is in use and
many document files are open via Nautilus, with double click.

There are some other programs that cause the same problem in the UI, then it is
NOT (probably) caused by LibreOffice, although occur more frequently with it.

The image is stretched vertically and the lines are jumbled and confusing. The

Not a fix, just a workaround, but after several tests, the corruption stopped

For me this issue arose in Ubuntu 12.10 and still happening in version 13.04.
This is a terrible bug and makes Ubuntu and LibreOffice almost unusable for
