I think what happend here is that VIA just released a new revision and
felt about bumping the version number.
I don't think this can be the real problem, infact I first encountered this
issue in intrepid, so I installed back ubuntu 8.04 and everything worked just
fine, then I upgraded to intrepi
I've already installed these drivers and all problems are solved.

but when I launch the suggested script I receive this error:

not shure was the same I used when I wrote the mail.
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T60 with kubuntu 7.
Adept manager did not finish the process when is going to install the

FYI, it's fixed now for me. I had some problems between mpd and pulse
since the upgrade, maybe fixing that was what fixed it. I really don't
know at what point it was fixed, sorry :S

I have similar symptoms on kubuntu 9.10. The system does not freeze and
is usable, but when you press volume up or volume down keys the system
continue to raise/lower the audio volume and is impossible to stop or
invert the process.

If you reassign some different key to the same action (I tried next track and
previous track) everything will work ok.

down) and the result is that kde configuration window and xev ignore this key
