This was because of a file system problem (ext3). I ran fsck and it
fixed a problem in ./usr/include/linux/hdlc. Running synaptic
successfully installed the package. Sorry for the unnecessary bug

Deactivating USB keyboard support on the BIOS seems to have fixed the
problem on my Gigabyte MA69GM-S2H (AMD 690G chipset).
I have been using USB 2.0 devices (at around 11 MB/s) ever since without
a problem nor a reset so far (around 5 weeks now).

This bug is quite important for me because my netbook is unusable
because of this.
To prevent damage on SSD, I use tmpfs for /var/log/
So, I lost all changes and any folder. It make an error for apt, but it's

libgphoto2 missing udev rules?
Marking New because I have had this problem since last year, and it
persists into 9.04. I have tried upgrading the BIOS from A06 to A15, but
with no change.
The symptoms for me are a complete lock-up, sometimes with blinking LEDs
