I'm also getting this problem. It fails to load on my HTPC (P4, 2GB RAM,
Nvidia 6600 AGP). I have tried both the beta and the RC x86 mythbuntu
images using VGA and YPbPr connections to the display panel (Samsung 40
LCD TV).

OK, after trying different combinations, it worked when I swapped my
256MB AGP Nvidia 6600 for a 128MB Nvidia Geforce3 Ti200.

Tested the revised patch both on systems that had no working brightness
keys before ubuntu6 and those that did to confirm proper brightness

indicator patch which has been considered as not mature enough by
