ok, thanks for the explanation. the problem here is that every download

Manager can reissue the actual download). This is correct in most cases,

[Ubuntu-phone] Oxide web browser and Nextcloud

2016-11-15 Thread Roberto Resoli
Hello,

I noted some problems using Ubuntu touch web browser (Oxide engine) on
Nextcloud.

It is impossible to download files, (all is well with other
browsers/platforms). I have better described the issue on nextcloud forum:

https://help.nextcloud.com/t/nc-on-ubuntu-touch-browser-error-in-sabredav-when-downloading-file/4904

I have not opened a ticket, because I would prefer to open it towards
the right project (Ubuntu touch or Nextcloud)?

What do you think? Given that Nextcloud uses UbuntuCore for the
Nextcloud box[1] (Nice!) I think this is quite relevant for Ubuntu
lovers ...

Another one:

https://www.spreed.me/

The nice thing is that you can use it
- as a service
- inside a private set-top box (spreddbox:
https://www.spreed.me/spreedbox/)
- or as plugin for owncloud
(https://apps.owncloud.com/content/show.php/Spreed.ME?content=174436 ) .

I tried the latter and it works vwery well in general. It should work
even under Touch, but at that time the video embedded in oxide browser
was corrupted; audio and chat worked well. Still have to try under OTA11 .

way to achieve the desired behaviour (LOCK one SIM only, in order to

Thanks for that - I had the same issue and applying the work-around has
cleaned things up.

Things are still not right, though. Outgoing mail is sent OK but not
saved on the IMAP server, despite having set up a "Sent" folder.

My mailboxConfig.json looks like this (where matches the only
entry left in dekko.dekkoproject.conf):

-
{
 "": {
 "global": {
 "archive": {
 "enabled": false,
 "folder": "",
 "format": "monthly",
 "keepMboxStructure": false
 },
 "deleted": {
 "autoExpunge": false,
 "markRead": true,
 "moveToTrash": true,
 "preserveFlagged": false
 },
 "drafts": {
 "saveDraftInterval": 1000,
 "saveLocal": true,
 "saveToDrafts": false
 },
 "draftsMailbox": "",
 "sentMailbox": "Sent",
 "submission": {
 "allowRetries": false,
 "bcc": "",
 "cc": "",
 "includeBCC": false,
 "includeCC": false,
 "includeSignature": "always",
 "quoteOriginalMessage": true,
 "replyQuotePosition": "before",
 "saveToImap": true
 },
 "trashMailbox": "Trash"
 }
 }
}
-

I can see the contents of the "Sent" folder just fine, and deleted mail
is moved to the "Trash" folder as expected. I spotted a line in
dekko.dekkoproject.conf, "saveToImapEnabled=false", but changing that
setting to true had no effect.

I couldn't find a matching bug report - is this new, or just me doing
something wrong?

Same here. The mailbox behaviour file in my case was missing names for some
folders, notably 'Sent' 'Drafts' and 'Trash'.

I edited the file completing the missing names, and changing some boolean
switch, and now all is fine. I will comment in the bug report asap.

I add here below my current file (the inner part only for the IMAP_SMTP
account ):

 "global": {
   "archive": {
   "enabled": false,
   "folder": "",
   "format": "monthly",
   "keepMboxStructure": false
   },
   "deleted": {
   "autoExpunge": false,
   "markRead": false,
   "moveToTrash": true,
   "preserveFlagged": false
   },
   "drafts": {
   "saveDraftInterval": 1000,
   "saveLocal": true,

   "saveToDrafts": true

   },

   "draftsMailbox": "Drafts",

[Ubuntu-phone] Wrong? details on ubuntu tablet announcement and specs

2016-02-05 Thread Roberto Resoli

Hello,

I read the official announcement on

http://insights.ubuntu.com/2016/02/04/canonical-reinvents-the-personal-mobile-computing-experience/

And I noted some problem in the links:

- The link to full specs (the "here" in "View the full spec here")
points to phone devices, not tablet ones.

- The link to "BQ’s online store." pints to "https://store.bq.com/gl/;
which is an empty page.

---

The specs of the tablet in:

http://www.ubuntu.com/tablet/devices

States that the camera is "12 megapixel camera with autofocus and dual
flash", but bq specs says, for both m10 HD and Full HD models: "8 Mpx
for rear camera and 5 Mpx for front camera".

And from the present release (8.2) they are hosted under owncloud.org domain.
This is the only reason I mentioned the repo explicitly.

None in my case. I set up owncloud sync months ago, using syncevolution
command. The configuration for contacts and calendar worked well throgh all ota
updates since then.

I haven't setup anything for file sync, I use owncloud interactively from the
web interface when i need it.

I agree, and I think that having only Google as remote source for

I don't see that on my Bq, or not at least identically. Occasionally I
find myself pressing the button the second time so that it immediately
darkens the screen away. I'm not sure but there may be something racy
going on so that the next immediate press again just wakes up the
screen and immediately turns it off again. But if I wait 1-2 seconds
before I press the second (/third) time, it works as it should.

Most of the time however the first press works correctly for me and
without delay.

Same here, not an issue at all in my case.

Scrolling in general is often accompanied by screen lag.

The Unity 8 scrolling is still not smooth, I agree. If you do a smooth
scrolling gesture, there are hickups here and there. Browser seems
better to me, to the extent it does not bother me if the page is fully
loaded, but still not perfect.

Same impression; smoothness is not exceptional, but good. Very good in
browser and webapps.

Starting the message service is still very slow. It takes a few seconds
before the messages turn up, then 10+ seconds until the phone numbers are
converted to names from the address book. After this you can select a
message thread, but you have to wait another few seconds before it turns up
on the screen. Entering the message is also frequently accompanied by lag.
Then, when you send the message, you usually have to hit the send icon at
least twice and wait another3-4 seconds for there to be a visible result.

It seems 3 seconds to start on my Bq (too slow, but we need to wait
for further app startup improvements), but names are up in 2 seconds
after that. Opening a thread takes 1 second.

3 seconds, 1 second here. Not too bad, but I do not use SMS very often.

I've about 200 names in address book and a few tens of message threads.

1200 names, few tens here.

It would be interesting to know where the differences come from. Maybe
simply the amount of message threads or the amount of messages, I
don't have too many of those.

Yes, we should try to compare behaviour in similar conditions, or taking
in account differences.

I agree with Mathias, this conceptually is the same as in return
receipts in ordinary email; it is a feature implemented by Mail User
Agents, and every (serious) Mail User Agent permits the user to disable it.

If this feature is part of the Telegram protocol, the protocol itself is
seriously broken, and in that case I will avoid at all Telegram usage.

MDNs (RFC 3798) are a formalization of Return Receipts , but exactly
for the same privacy reasons Mathias refers to, requests for MDNs are
entirely advisory in nature - i.e. recipients are free to ignore such
requests:

This behaviour is slightly improved after OTA-5: previously the longer

hearing nothing).

Now the longer click activates audio even during ringing.

By the way, is there any effort currently in place to implement

2. Run this command: (note this will delete messages received in your

rm .cache/com.ubuntu.telegram/
3. Re-launch Telegram (if it's running, swipe it away first from the app

If you still have the problem, do the same with:
rm .config/com.ubuntu.telegram/+your_phone_number/auth

 So it seems the BQ bluetooth is muting the call when it comes in, and my

 Roberto Resoli experienced the same on his earpiece so it seems a common
 error.
 I can confirm this error when using the bq in combination with scala

 again to pickup / drop the phone before it works...
 Also changing the audio source on the phone screen from bluetooth to
 phone / speaker and then back to bluetooth doesn't do much so seems to
 be a small bug somewhere in the system ?

Since this seems a common behaviour over different kinds of bluetooth
devices, maybe it is convenient to file a bug somewere. Any hint?

Just retested the procedure;

Important: omit the database=Personal parameter.

If you have many vcf, put them in a directory e pass the directory as

In my case I had a single vcf per contact, so i iterated the
