Actually that's an old issue. I experience that mostly on my Nexus 7 on

that's why you can't turn it on. For me, what I do is do a reboot until
bluetooth works.I'm pretty sure there's a command for that. I'm just too lazy

If they are not paired, I think they should disappear after a while, at
latest after a reboot.

You can, however, clear the entire Bluetooth device database (including
paired devices) by running:

rm -rf /var/lib/bluetooth/*

and reboot afterwards.

I try pairing and the car says this is not compatible. In previous OTA's it
paired. Some times previously I had to reset the car. But now it is impossible.

Could you say where is the syslog?

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Bluetooth is not paired with a C4 Citroen

2016-07-28 Thread Konrad Zapałowicz
Hey,

Ok, if you are unsure about the silos and due to the fact that I'm not
certain that it will fix the issues with cars I recommend waiting till
OTA-13.

As for the syslog this is the global log file where the whole system is
printing. It is located in /var/log/syslog and you need the adb tool [it is
a part of Android Tools] to access it. Once you have it installed on your
desktop enable the developer mode [under settings/about section] and
connect the device via USB cable. Then login to the device using the adb
(1) copy the syslog to the location which is accessible from outside (2)
loout (3) and fetch it from the device (4)

(1) $ abd shell
(2) $ cp /var/log/syslog /tmp
(3) $ exit
(4) $ adb pull /tmp/syslog ~

Hope this helps, let me know if you have further questions and I will be
happy to answer.

Best,
Konrad

Hey,

We are in a process of releasing BlueZ 5.41 with it's packages currently in
silo 37. It might, however I'm not 100% sure, improve iot with cars.
Therefore if you are fluent enough with the shell and adb you may try to

@Cesar

Could you describe briefly what are the symptoms of your failures - did you
mean connecting or pairing? Is there any chance for you to attach syslog.
The https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/1539158 would be a
good place to do so.

Try the following (experienced the similar thing with scala rider q3):
when your call is active click on the button to pick up again. I don't
know what caused this but for the scala the pickup button is the same
as the one to close the call... might work as a work around untill the
problem is resolved by the bug posted on launchpad... but I'm not 100%

Does anyone has some similar issues with Bluetooth devices?

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Bluetooth issue with Parrot CK3100 and BQ Aquaris E5

2016-07-16 Thread Eran Benjamin

Parrot 9200 has same issue, till OTA11 I could choose to manually select
the BQ4.5 in the Parrot menu (after the phone and Parrot synced) and
then also voice worked, but after OTA11 this doesn't help either.

On 16-07-16 12:06, Vincas Dargis wrote:

Hi,

I tried to use E5 (OTA-10 and later upgraded to 11) with Parrot
hands-free system in my car (it's second hand car, bought it with
Parrot reinstalled), and results are that though address book is
synced, calls can be initiated and answered, but there is no sound
heard from caller or callee. Parrot itself does produce sounds while
browsing it's menu, so I doubt it's installation problem. Parrot shows
crossed note symbol during calls and that's it.

Tried to reset Parrot (by holding it's buttons pressed), but it does
not help.

Have you looked at this bug

Bluetooth 4 or BLE devices are not discovered by Ubuntu Touch, but you
can find and connect them through bluetoothctl in the Terminal.

The Microsoft Arc Mouse exists in two versions. The version with a USB
Dongle is not not a Bluetooth mouse and will not work. The Bluetooth
version might work. Why might? It might use a technology only supported as
of Windows 8.0. I had that problem with the Microsoft Design Mouse in the
Bluetooth version. it does Work on a Windows 10, however, does not work
under Windows 7 or Ubuntu.

This thread underlines that we need somewhere in the Wiki a compatibility

Of course Bluetooth uses dongles. They're very common with Bluetooth
keyboards or mice because not all systems (particularly desktops) have
Bluetooth receivers. Incidentally, I use an old Bluetooth receiver with

As I understood from discussion of this bug [1] it should work with bluez
5.40. Will it come to UT any soon?
It's a brand new mouse purchased specifically for use with my tablet, so if
it's not going to work with it I will try getting my money back (without
much hope for success though).

You need to be root to do that. For other users than root those things
(as they contain the security keys used from encrypted connections) are
not accessible. Only way is through the command line.

Also, you should not start to manipulate those files manually. That will
only lead to problems.

plays for as long as you like. If you select bluetooth it needs

it. I'm not sure, however, if we will make it for the next OTA
update. Anyway you can check https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/1494225
to verify if your bug matches the one we are working on and
  for updates.

I urge you also to provide us with the details such as the
headset you are using and additionally we would be very happy
to receive logs as per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingBluetooth

On my MX-4, since OTA-9 I've been hitting trouble connecting
my bluetooth headset to the phone for calls.

If it's already connected then everything seems to work
however if I try to connect while on a call then the phone
switches to bluetooth (and the icon in the phone screen
changes to the loudspeaker with the bluetooth logo next to
it, as expected), however I can't hear anything and the
other end can't hear anything either.

Pressing on the icon and changing to phone loudspeaker works
to get the call back, but even switching back to bluetooth
using the icon causes the same issue. Only reseting the
phone (seems to be a hard reset - 10 seconds press of the
power button) or leaving it for 10 mins or so and going back
to it, seems to clear the problem.

Switching the headset off then back on, doesn't sort it
either, just back to neither end being able to hear
anything.

This used to work well and seems to have broken with an OTA
update. Only way I seem to get it to work from the start is
to connect and leave connected for a minute or so before I
want to make or receive a call.

Anyone else got or seen this at all - anything that can be
done to improve or just needs to go as a bug?

Cheers

Hello Marco
Mine is a similar system to your in a my VW Golf. I never had any issues with
connecting my MX4 to the unit. However I never got to try making a call with my
MX4 since the OTA 8.5 update. So I don't know if the OTA 8.5 update has broken
something? it did have issues connecting the device, as it couldn't find the
phone on a few occasions.
I've run a test on my BQ just a moment ago and it will connect to my unit. It
will also make a call. Soon as the call connect the Bluetooth drops, leaving
the call hearing some awful static noise.
I'm going to report a bug and post the bug link here. So anyone can then add to
this, their experiences.
Thanks

OK, thanks. Your original email didn't include this anything about

I'm pretty sure the device within the car has no issues, as I've had

So in addition to dropping the call and becoming non-discoverable,
you're seeing Bluetooth become disabled on the phone as well?

I would suggest that you report a bug:

Obex (data push and pull) is supported, however there are currently no
applications using it, After ota9 when we move to bluez5 there is a
much nicer api for obex which will hopefully mean that application can
make use of it and therefore send and receive from bluetooth. Till
then sorry it is not supported.

Would you mind filing a bug at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/webbrowser-app/+filebug ?
Ideally, with a screenshot (if your device is connected to an ubuntu
desktop via USB, just run `phablet-screenshot screenshot.png` and attach
the resulting image).

I'm on a Nexus 4, currently running Ubuntu 15.04 r328.

Which channel are you using? I'm on rc-proposed (mako) and the current
image number is around 120.
Have you tried the stable channel?

Oh, and just to inform you: I found your email while looking through my

Can you also please follow https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingBluetooth
while reproducing the bluetooth problems and send me the logs or attach
them to a new bug report? That would be really helpful to analyse what
is going wrong here!

afaik, QtBluetooth will be included in images soon. To get started with
exploring it you can manually install it from apt for now. I have tested
the BluetoothDiscoveryModel and it seems to work for unconfined stuff. I
had less luck with file transfers tho.

From what I know we currently don't expose any bluetooth specific APIs.
Qt itself offers some (see http://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qtbluetooth-index.html)
but I never tried to use them in Ubuntu Touch applications. The package
(qml-module-qtbluetooth) responsible for it also isn't installed on our

This is really something we need to get up on our list of things we have
to provide as part of our application usable API sets.

Please run "top" in the terminal app. If the cpu is mostly used by
scope-registry then it's this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1470750

If so, it will be fixed in the OTA-5 update that's coming real soon.
In the meantime, you can do "restart scope-registry" in the terminal, or reboot.
If not, please provide any other detail you can find.

first the pairing seems to work, phone shows Bt connection with the radio, but
the radio seems to have problems connecting to the phone and displays a broken
connection message. Some other Polish very active tester and ranslator has
problem in his car but only with a microphone so He asked me to test the voice
input. My first test however was with a Garmin navigation device. Bq connected
and worked properly both audio input and output through the Garmin.

Hey Frederik,

can you please give us some more details?

Which phone are you using?

Which Ubuntu version are you using?

Please enable verbose bluetooth logging (see
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Process/Merges/TestPlan/ubuntu-system-settings#Debugging),
create a bug and attach those log files there. When you enabled verbose
logging please reproduce the problem you're experiencing and attach only the
log files after you got it reproduced so we can be sure the log files include
everything we need.

We do have obexd running, which is the piece responsible for syncing
your contacts over bluetooth.

Please open a bug against https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/obexd,
and in case you have shell access, please do the following and attach
your logs to the bug:

phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ stop obexd
obexd stop/waiting
phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ /usr/lib/obexd/obexd -n -d > obexd.log 2>&1 &

Then just try to connect with your car again. obexd.log should provide
the required info to see why it's failing with your car.

Please also provide your car model and such.

Thanks,

You'll likely need both /var/log/syslog and
/home/phablet/.cache/upstart/application-legacy-ubuntu-system-settings-.log
(note the extra - just before .log)

The former describes what happens in bluetoothd itself, and the latter logs
some extra information from the "client" side, which will do the actual
calls to bluetoothd.

With both of these, please file a bug on Launchpad against
ubuntu-system-settings here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-system-settings/+filebug

Since this seems a common behaviour over different kinds of bluetooth

Works fine on my bluetooth speaker in my car Opel / Vauxhall / Saturn
Astra Sports Tourer carkit; but when I switch to my bike it has
troubles with the Scala Rider Q3.
It seems as if the scala is recognised as a different type of
bluetooth device... And I personally think that problem has to be
searched somewhere within this but I'm not 100% sure...

So it seems the BQ bluetooth is muting the call when it comes in, and
my second press on the button of the car-kit activate the speakers.

The release image does not support HCI profiles for keyboards, so I
wouldn't expect this to work. Hopefully someone more familiar with our
blueZ implementation can comment if the command line you tried should work.

We're working adding support in a future update!

As well as this list, the askubuntu.com site is another good place for
