This should be SRU'd after bug #629234 IMHO. The fix for bug #/577165
should be added here also, as it is a minor change to vsftpd.conf (and
only to Lucid). See that bug for a patch.

This was fixed in Natty but a little bit differently, see bug #656415 .
Should the fix be taken from there and SRU'd back to Maverick and Lucid
or is the above patch sufficient (or maybe even better) ?
In Natty there is this for checking if the user/group exists:
if ! getent passwd | grep -q
Should this then be corrected in Natty also and then it can be SRU'd ?

Please import a fix
I can confirm this exists on Lucid, and the proposed fixes work also.
One thing I don't get is, where does this line appear:
echo ${CONFFILE}: listen disabled - service will not start
I couldn't find it anywhere, shouldn't it appear on the console when I
do 'start vsftpd' ?
** Changed in:
Extracted the fix from the old rc7-1ubuntu3.4 package from hardy-
proposed (which never got in the -updates), and applied it to the
current package (rc7-1ubuntu3.5). See attached debdiff. Hope it helps.
** Patch added: openvpn.diff
Attached two patches for Maverick and Lucid. Do these look alright?

I think this bug can be closed as Jaunty is EOL and in Karmic it got
fixed.
