Ubuntu translations are typically accomplished by volunteer users in
local translators team. Most available languages are more or less

The German translation team is one of the teams which have achieved the
best translation coverage in Ubuntu. Possibly the reaction had been

The lightdm solution I propose makes the temporary guest account's real
name translated to begin with, i.e. it's the translation of "Guest" that
will be saved in the /etc/passwd entry. This should do it in most cases.
