Dell Inspiron 1525, Kubuntu 10.04. Enabling/disabling works, touchpad
buttons work, but moving the cursor via the touchpad doesn't. Tried
kubuntu systemsettings, gsynaptics and gpointing-device-settings. The
first two didn't do anything, the latter at least could switch the

I spend a great deal of time myself attempting to figure out the u43jc
dsdt, and I was able to find the _PS0 and _PS3 methods.
Since _PS3 is the method for powering off devices, and it was the only
occurrence of _PS3 in the entire DSDT.dsl, I figure this is correct.

for Python 3 core development on Kubuntu is currently very annoying

Yes I confirm what maba just wrote in comment #22.
I only downloaded the packages nvidia-current and nvidia-settings from that PPA.
Then I installed them with dpkg in terminal.
There is no need to change sources.list that way.
Anyway, the driver runs well in maverick too. The PPA itself is for

I had the same bug. After logging more than one user and logout one of
them I got the black screen.
I've updated nvidia drivers to 173.14.27 and the bug has gone.

some input handling in X in Maverick. I am 99% sure this is not a uTouch

Yeah, ubuntu-bug won't upload a bug report on an unofficial package
version. It also gathers and attaches the output of glxinfo in its
graphics-related bug reports, so it's pretty useless when the bug report
is glxinfo crashes X. :)
Do you have a machine to SSH into the affected system from? I
I see the same problem on my laptop, which happens to be the same E6410.
After resume the touchpad and pointer mouse functions extremely
erratically. An external mouse works to move the cursor, but buttons are
unresponsive.
I have the latest BIOS, A05 installed. I also have the latest updates
OK - still an error (BADSIG on the Release file).
This will have to wait until Monday unfortunately.

Didier,
I continued working on this, but put the system in an unusable state
that would not boot. I ended up reloading 10.04 Desktop, as I needed to
use the machine. I am hoping that things will go better next month if I
do an upgrade.

Unity ubuntu 10.10 aint working my

After the install completed I updated everything then rebooted and tried
to install ATI drivers using Hardware drivers app but it fails with
SystemError: installArchives() failed

Unfortunately the above hack of modifying xorg.conf isn't a solution for 10.4.
After several weeks of joy, the bug struck again.
I was lazily editing a document and leaned on the keyboard, probably
pressing the ctrl or shift key. Bam, the space key started to auto-
repeat. Had to power off.

This still seems to be a problem in recent kernel versions (KMS
enabled)!
Oddly, with kernel 2.6.33, everything seems fine (lucid + ppa kde and
all xorg variants, including xorg-edgers on a Thinkpad T500, i915).
But with every version from 2.6.34 up to 2.6.36-rc4 I have tried, there
clearly is a
