Can you check if this is now fixed? This bug looks a lot like bug
702090 which is now solved, so I'm going to assume that fixes this one
as well.
If it doesn't, please file a new bug when the apport bug reporting
dialog pops up.

Status:
This bug is probably a dupe of bug 702090 which is now fixed, so I'm
going to optimistically assume this one is fixed as well.
If I'm wrong, please file a new bug report when apport displays an error
dialog and we'll investigate further from there.

Hmm, you didn't provide the crash error from compiz so it's difficult to
say, but this is probably a dupe of the (now fixed) bug 733518, which
has been a commonly reported compiz crash due to X.

Yep, looks like a case of bug 717114 which you'll be happy to know is
fixed in your next kernel update James. :-)
(Although at least one person says they still have the behavior, so
possibly ymmv; reopen bug if it doesn't go away on the latest kernel.)

From your latest comment it sounds like a bug in compiz's multihead
functionality; refiling to compiz.

This happens usualy in 10 minutes after login. Graphics freezes, but
ctrl-alt-f1 usualy works (sometimes not) and I am able to run metacity from
console to continue with work (and to send this bug report). Interesting parts
