[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1066389] Re: New 12.10 Install Fail
You are using an old image, please use a more recent one. There were a few related bugs fixed. Please file a new bug if a newer image is also failing. The most current image has 20121014 timestamp. LiveMediaBuild: Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal - Beta amd64 (20120926) You can use zsync with zsync url, if you have the old image around. That way it will download the difference only. ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1066389 Title: New 12.10 Install Fail To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1066389/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 360724] Re: [RV515] Kubuntu: Corrupted mouse cursor after moving between screens
I have exactly the same problem. I use Kubuntu 12.04 (but I experience the problems for years already), KDE 4.9.2, ATI Radeon HD 5870, fglrx driver. On my primary monitor the mouse cursor is corrupted sometimes and on the secondary monitor it is always looking good. So by moving the mouse from the secondary to the primary monitor the image gets corrupted and when moving back it gets fix again...?! Additional observations: * When the problem starts manifesting, it happens for all (both OS and application) mouse cursor images. * Restarting seems to only (temporarily) fix. I am happy to provide more information, if required. So please let me know. ** Attachment added: Image of the corrupted default KDE mouse cursor https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/360724/+attachment/3398091/+files/IMAG0021.jpg ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Status: Expired = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/360724 Title: [RV515] Kubuntu: Corrupted mouse cursor after moving between screens To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/360724/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1066505] [NEW] Screen goes blank and system freezes on shutdown / logout / reboot
Public bug reported: From time to time (I can't find a pattern), when I shutdown, reboot or logout from the GUI, the screen turns off, but then doesn't turn on again. At this point, the system hangs and I have to do a hard powerdown. When switching to a tty, the screen goes blank as well (because it has to change the resolution) but always turns on again, so I always shutdown my system from the tty. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1066147] Re: No Unity, and Compiz isnt running correctly
AMD have dropped Radeon HD 4000 series support from their fglrx driver. See http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=articleitem=amd_catalyst_legacy2 and http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_itempx=MTEzNDA You will have to use the open source driver. If you need more speed from the open source driver, the upstream 3.6 kernel finally enables PCI Express 2.0 support, which has been shown to boost the performance of your Radeon HD 4650 on some OpenGL workloads. A PPA of the 3.6.2 kernel can be found at http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ and instructions on how to install and uninstakk it can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1066147 Title: No Unity, and Compiz isnt running correctly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1066147/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1066522] [NEW] Nvidia-current package did not install /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-current_hybrid.conf in Quantal
Public bug reported: I have Quantal with latest updates (proposed is on) on my laptop (Sony VAIO F13Z1R with NVIDIA Geforce GT 425M). When I try to install Nvidia drivers (nvidia-current package) I expect that after reboot I will get nvidia driver, but I get nouveau. The first thing I checked was presence of blacklist files in /etc/modprobe.d/ which prevent nouveau to load. But they are absent. During installation process there is a file /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia- current_hybrid.conf.dpkg-new, but then it dissapears. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1066524] [NEW] ubuntu 10.10 or above not support sis chipset(not the video card)
Public bug reported: ubuntu 10.04 with a kernel 2.6 or lower works well on SIS motherboard, but SIS motherboard Users with ubuntu 10.10 or higher have to add an acpi=off to the grub line to boot it. I'm now using ubuntu 12.04 on an ASUS F81SE notebook with SIS motherboard, and I can't boot it normally unless by each of following 3 ways:1.add anacpi=off to the grub line;2.disable wlan in bios;3.download a kernel 2.6.34 or lower(used by ubuntu 10.04) from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ and boot the system by this kernel. So i guess ubuntu must have removed sis motherboard acpi support from kernel 2.6 or higher(perhaps linux kernel team should be responsible for it). Please give me an a explanation about it . Something has to be pointed out that this bug has nothing to do with the video card or video driver! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1057120] Re: Ubiquity screen problem during install.
I just installed Lubuntu Precise final in order to perform Lubuntu i386 Quantal upgrade testing and even the Lubuntu i386 Precise final will display this behavior. If you don't drag the installer windows around you can see still see window-over-window behavior. Since a picture is worth a thousand words I'll repeat with an Lubuntu Precise image and show you very soon ;^) I somehow doubt this is a true Xorg bug . maybe more related to the gtk2 - gtk3 switch I really don't think it's a serious issue, just cosmetic. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1057120 Title: Ubiquity screen problem during install. Just checking this again in Lubuntu Precise final and all seems well if I begin from the live desktop, but if I begin by selecting Install rather than Try I get this behavior. I did take some pics but I'm now waiting for a camera battery to recharge. And I will of course have to double check the behavior in Lubuntu Quantal. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1055400] Re: [nouveau] Major graphics corruption and flickering after exiting unredirected fullscreen mode
** Description changed: Enabling Compiz option: CCSM Composite Unredirect Fullscreen Windows seems to work at first. But after you enter and leave fullscreen mode a few times the screen flickers uncontrollably, goes corrupt, and the system becomes useless. Restarting Compiz is not sufficient to fix the problem. I've only found this problem with the nouveau driver so far. TEST CASE: 1. Make sure you're using nouveau 2. CCSM Composite Unredirect Fullscreen Windows = ON - 3. glxgears -fullscreen + 3. glxgears -fullscreen (Doesn't work with Unity!) (Or start a different OpenGL program that uses fullscreen) 4. While it's running tap Alt+Space a few times. 5. Press escape to exit the program Expected: Screen returned to its original state. Observed: Screen flickers and gets worse with use. Quickly becomes totally corrupt. WORKAROUND: Install the proprietary Nvidia driver: nvidia-current or nvidia-current-updates ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:0.0.16+git20111201+b5534a1-1build2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-31.50-generic 3.2.28 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-31-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu13 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: [core, composite, opengl, compiztoolbox, decor, mousepoll, gnomecompat, resize, vpswitch, grid, move, imgpng, regex, animation, wall, place, fade, session, expo, workarounds, scale, ezoom, unityshell] CompositorRunning: None Date: Mon Sep 24 17:39:18 2012 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: precise DistroVariant: ubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, GraphicsCard: NVIDIA Corporation GT218GL [Quadro FX 380 LP] [10de:0a78] (rev a2) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: NVIDIA Corporation Device [10de:0746] InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin - Release amd64 (20120425) MachineType: Dell Inc. I am also experiencing this problem with lightdm 1.4 and lightdm-kde on Arch Linux. Steps to reproduce: 1. Login as User1. 2. Start a new session as User2. 3. Switch back to User1. 4. Log out as User1. 5. Screen sits with blinking cursor. I can manually switch to User2 using FN + F8, or what-have-you. Once I log out both users lightdm returns to the login screen as expected. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1066599] Re: Wine is unable to detect OSMesa correctly when compiling from source
Jamie, you should probably try the following 'https://launchpad.net /~ubuntu-wine' as they might be able to help you more as this is not really a graphics or video related issue.
