Tried removing /var/lib/ureadahead/*pack to force ureadahead reprofile
to check the theory.
RESULTS:
When ureadahead is reprofiling, the issue doesn't occur.
I don't point at ureadahead in any way, it probably just plays a role in some
sort of race condition.

This bug is killing me. It started around 11.04 and is still present in
12.04 for me. I'm running the binary nVidia driver (Machine has a Quadro
FX1600m). Something seems to have changed as recently this has started
dumping my session (Cinnamon 2D) out to login rather than just locking
the machine
Ok, there is conflicting information in #18 and #20. I can say that
things seem to be working ok now (I have xserver-xorg-input-vmmouse
1:12.9.0-0ubuntu3 in the guest) after downgrading qemu-kvm to what is in

This fix seems to work. Since adapting the Apparmor profile to the ATI grafics
card as described above I had no single crash of Firefox nor Gnome neither on
FF startup nor on opening links from Thunderbird. Everything is working as its
supposed to be.
All messages in the syslogs are clean.
Testing this on precise on gm45 (i965), I do not reproduce this bug
using the test case outlined in the description.
From comment #4 it sounds like you are not reproducing it in quantal.
Can you check whether your system still reproduces it on current
precise?

Thank you Christopher, it ended up being a misconfiguration. Unchecking
the Disable touchpad while typing checkbox has returned the clickpad
to a much more useable state: two-finger scrolling works, two-finger-
click for right-click works, click-and-drag works. I am confident I can
configure the
Not to say that /etc/X11/xorg.conf has been deprecated, but: The X11
Quirks files are a quick way to fix backlight control issues. I have
smashed/replaced my LCD panel since reporting this bug, and no longer
hear a buzzing noise when changing brightness while forcing the
proprietary NVIDIA driver
Also, Martin: Brightness increments are still uneven for me. I'm
terrified of hitting brightness up/down hotkeys too quickly, because I
get a frozen display. No kernel panic though, I'll see if I can acess my
laptop through SSH next time this happens. So anoying, no satisfaction!
