like adding a security feature with a backdoor to disable it?
Thats a real good one from your keyboard ;-)
Feel free to discuss this "issue" of an optional feature in a separate
thread. Now let's please get back on topic.

I stand corrected: in the context of the script as outlined in

mea culpa " pretty much unrelated nonsense" ?
Take my code
change os and $os to plattform and $plattform
save it to the wiki
see how there are line wraps
Remember
* There is no debian repository anymore
* there is no way to upload a txtfile to the wiki "Permitted file types:
png, gif, jpg, jpeg, zip, opml, pdf, gz, tgz."
* so no fancy
Code:
wget -O -

That $os at the end is unnecessary.
Really
Yes. I guess it's a left-over from some copy/paste job: the URL as
stored in the code would use the variable $os to add the os parameter.
it was there to only download THAT

Really
it was there to only download THAT version you really need instead of
downloading and installing the all.deb with ~140 mb it
Hi @all,
I'm feeling a little stupid to have kept you busy with this. A simple
apt-get purge and dpkg -i did the trick. Everything works now. I don't
know what was wrong - I guess I might have installed LMS via Raspbian
GUI and a second time via dpkg/repo. Might have been a duplicate
@MI6
This is a good "how to" for Squeezelite.
You can change the download for a later one from Ralphy if you wish.

Thanks Michael, I have removed it. :o:o

Heres how I install a downloaded LogitechMediaServer Debian deb
package on a Debian-like system:

This is my routine based on the Wiki for a debian install. I use it on
Raspbian Buster Desktop and Lite.
It is supposed to be a script but

Have you inadvertently mucked around with
-/usr/sbin/squeezeboxserver_safe- or -/etc/init.d/logitechmediaserver-
or something else ?
This makes no sense to me:

server.log:
Code:

TrackStat: Synchronizing TrackStat data, please wait...

Check the LMS logs just in case there is a clue.
Also ps/grep for perl

1) I know that Squeezelite is a player - I installed it. But does the
player also have a squeezeserver since ps -A |grep

Nope - I'm not (yet) using either of these plugins.
Squeezelite is a separate player.
Do you have any plugins running that launch extra processes?

This is what I did:
Code:
pi@RPiWohnzimmer:~ $ sudo systemctl stop logitechmediaserver.service
I've seen that from time to time and I suspect it to be an issue with
the Airplay bridge or Castbridge not shutting down cleanly but I have
yet to spend any time looking further.
Do you run either of those plugins ?

Try a "stop" rather than a "restart" and see if it really does stop and
how long it takes.
If it exits cleanly then try a "start".

Paul
Hi,
I just successfully installed LMS on my new RPi 4+ 4GB. Works like a
charm.
Except when it comes to a restart:
If I use
Code:
service logitechmediaserver restart
or
Code:
sudo systemctl restart
