Squeezebox classic does not support WMA lossless so it needs a
trasnscoder for the WMA Lossless filetype "wmal". The default LMS
transcode is wmadec which is a Windows only application.
Unless pcp supplies a custom-convert.conf file with filetype wmal set up
to use ffmpeg instead of wmadec - it

pgrep did not work either, because, just like pidof, it uses the last
known PID which is not

I'm a little bit further now. Squeezelite can find the LMS without
specifying the IP in the webinterface. I added some rules to the
firewall of the NAS and that seems to help. It took a few minutes, but
eventually everything worked automatically.

some additional dependencies on external packages.

People installing from scratch like this will have the same issue too,
plus many other dependencies.
You can also use:
apt install ./file.dpkg
.. to get apt to install the specific file and resolve deps in one step.
