Intrigued by this topic. What is the exact issue with system supplied
faad2? As far as I can see LMS does not pass any parameters to the CLI
frontend that are not supported by the regular faad2 (version 2.10.0).

that anything above 16 bit is buggy to say the least, but I
suppose it is possible that this bug does not manifest itself on some
platforms (or was patched by the OS maintainers).
