I have a set of worksheets that reference cells between them. They are saved
as *.xls files since I have built them since the late '90's. The links
don't work through LibreOffice on Windows XP.

The documentation for OpenOffice's slightly less developed Draw is also valid
although LibreOffice's Draw can also handle svg and more functionality too.

Yes, just type in the new data and move on to the next cell. The data gets
sent
straight to the data-source without any need to save. The save button is for
when you add or change forms, reports, queries or tables, it's not needed for
the data.

discontinued any future development of Canvas for
