[libreoffice-users] increase testing to improve quality
Readers, For those people that consider high quality software to be of highest priority, more important than new features, please help to perform quality assurance manual software tests. There is a web page which describes manual testing: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Testing/Manual_Tests. Clearly, there are insufficient testers... Please also subscribe to the quality assurance mailing list: http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-qa. There are many bugs that seem to occur after so-called upgrade. People who make the effort to report bugs: please consider how important each bug is. If it is of major importance, the ability to remove the bug must become part of the quality assurance manual test, i.e. the software version is not passed as good quality until that bug is removed. Testing for the success in solving the bug needs to be approved by using 'litmus' (https://tcm.documentfoundation.org). So, the behaviour that caused the bug needs to be recorded and entered into litmus. This should prevent regression bugs and improve software quality in the long-term. -- For unsubscribe instructions e-mail to: users+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

You never define a relationship in Base. You always do that in a database software even when you are working with the built-in database engine (status bar reads: embedded HSQLDB), this integrated database behaves exactly like any external database such as MySQL and many others. The self explaining error message comes from that database software and it says that you try to enter a patient-ID that has no counterpart in the patient table's primary key. Base can help you to avoid all integrity constraint errors by means of subforms and list boxes which are the 2 key elements to edit relational data in Base forms. Open x.zip with an archive manager (Winzip or 7zip are two that will do this). This will produce several folders and three files. Double click the database folder to open it. Then open the script file. The relationship can be deleted there. After making your changes, you zip all the files together and rename the database file from x.zip to x.odb. WARNING!! Unless you are well versed in extracting files from a zipped format or adding them to it, this is not something that you should be doing. Here is a work around to try. Open the database, x.odb. Then from its main database window, create a new database, y.odb. Copy and paste the tables from x.odb to y.odb. Define the relationships that you want, and recreate your forms. Any thoughts? I hate Vista. I had to reinstall 3.4.5 twice to get it working on my Vista Laptop. Vista is a bad OS, compared to XP and Win7. One thing you need to do is reboot between uninstall and the next install. Also, I would make sure the program data folder for LO is removed after the uninstall. There may be things that are left in that type of folder that could be the issue. Also, make sure your downloaded version was completely downloaded. Sometimes people have their downloads unfinished from one of our mirrors [which the download system choose for you]. For now, I would stick with 3.4.5. If you can. 3.5.0 is the cutting edge version or some people call it bleeding edge when these type of errors happen. To be honest, unless you need any feature that is new with 3.5.0, I would stick with 3.4.5 for a bit longer. It is always nice to see what the newest version is all about, so to speak, but if you want to use LO without any issues, stick with the previous version when the newest one ends with .0 or .1. These are not for the people who need it for day-to-day, business, or enterprise, applications. I have been using LO since the first month it was out. I am sticking with 3.4.5 till 3.5.x gets to .1 or .2, at least, since I use it for home-office work.

Shouldn't be a problem for LibreOffice Calc. A few years ago the maximum number of rows (for OpenOffice.org Calc – there was no LibreOffice back then) was 32 000 (2¹⁵-768), then they changed it to 65 536 (2¹⁶), and finally they changed it to 1 048 576 (2²⁰). What was the point, if OpenOffice.org/LibreOffice is not supposed to be able to handle even 4000 rows? [libreoffice-users] LO 3.5 Crashes When mp4 file is played in Impress

[libreoffice-users] Calc broke my document
A spreadsheet (ods) I have been using a while broke, and now Calc won't open it. Also alternatives refuse to open it. Passing it through http://odf-validator.rhcloud.com/ led to the following result (note the *Fatal*) below. Now I know that I can unzip the document, search for the offending attribute, delete this and rezip - and of course that didn't work. The point is, in 6 years that I use OO, and LO intensively I never had this before. And recently I saw other mentions on this list of broken Calc spreadsheets. I think there is a regression in Calc. You may use a hierarchy of forms and subforms to mimic relations on form level (display records in subform that are related to the selected item in the parent form). You may use another dBase driver. [libreoffice-users] Presentation conversion to/from Powerpoint - layout
I have Powerpoint on one machine and LibreOffice on another. I want to be able to edit and save PowerPoints on either machine. However, when loading Ppt in Presentation it does not always convert font and layout properly. Occasional tabs or spaces are missing or duplicated; occasional text boxes have text outside the slide, etc. Then when I then save the presentation as ppt it changes the font, for example, from bold to basic and shows tabs or spaces (see above) as missing. Is there some way of ensuring that the conversions are consistent and presentations can be switched back and forth? As a separate issue, in some cases Presentation show jpg's as sqeezed in the slide listing on the left, although they are OK when I click on the slide or when I do the show.
