Hello Mirosław,

Thanks for letting us know about this. You are correct in saying
that this is not an official release from Apache. In fact this is the
first time I've heard of this app.

We'll check with the publishers of the app and try to clear this up.
Hopefully it just a simple misunderstanding.

 Description
AndrOpen Office is Apache OpenOffice port for Android.
You can view, edit, export office documents using full features of
 Apache OpenOffice.
(NOTE: You can only edit in English in current version.)

 AndrOpen Office has 4 components:

 - Writer (a word processor)
 - Calc (spreadsheet)
 - Impress (presentation graphics)
 - Draw (drawing)

This is scam. They don't have a right to make such claims and are in no way
 associated with Apache.

I have been following Apache OpenOffice ecosystem quite closely for some time
and I assure you, that they would make it clear if they had Android port. The
only official thing you can find about this is this blog post from beginning
 from
 year:
 https://blogs.apache.org/OOo/entry/your_top_questions_answered

It actually states something contrary. Let's quote:
 #v+
9b. Can I load OpenOffice onto my Google Android tablet?

 (Combining two related questions)

Apache OpenOffice is available from the project for Windows, MacOS and Linux.
Community members additionally have ported OpenOffice to BSD, Solaris and
 OS/2,
and make these ports available on their own websites. There is no port of
OpenOffice for tablets. However, there are some 3rd party solutions that
 allow
remote access to an OpenOffice session, for example rollApp.
 #v-

Their e-mail is andropenoff...@gmail.com. It should ring a bell: why they
didn't set up e-mail address in apache.org domain?

And one more thing: developer is andropenoffice. com (I put a space here,
 as I
strongly discourage to go into their website unless you are running virtual
machine and can catch any bad things that might be there). That website was
created in February this year and contains little content besides
advertisements. It is credited by GMO Internet, which I never heard about.

Whereas Apache OpenOffice source code is distributed under permissive license,
Apache OpenOffice (and OpenOffice.org, for that matter) is registered
 trademark.
It is protected by international law and can't be used to name other products.

I am CC-ing Apache OpenOffice dev list. Hopefully it don't require
 subscription
and someone there will take care of this issue.

Using the form with a transparent background a table with lots of rows
columns to place the fields approximately where I wanted them in writer
worked for me. It was a bear putting the fields where I wanted them and
the long names writer generates make it difficult to see and place fields
where you want them if you have a lot of little boxes to x. If I spend
enough time with a really complicated form, it will do what I want.

I saw that the cutepdf guys sell a sdk / library that allows you to define
fields on the pdf form, then send the field data to it and it populates the
form and I presume there is some way to save / print it. Anyone know of an
open source library to accomplish this ?

Maybe. Except for the OP's comment: ...I want to fill them from a

mailmerge, where database record data fields are inserted into the Draw
text blocks. I am not sure Draw supports that. I suppose the Draw
image of the pdf form could be inserted into a Writer document as a
background (something like a watermark) and then mailmerge type fields
could be put on top of the Draw image with frames, but I have never done
 that.
BTW: I have never used mailmerge, so this is all speculation on my
part. It is something I would try if I were having the OP's problem.

[libreoffice-users] Installing LibO4.0.4 on GNU/Linux Mint

2013-06-23 Thread sun shine

Hi list

After installing LibO4.0.4 on GNU/Linux Mint 14 two interesting points
that I have noticed:

(1) the update icon still remains in the top right corner of the LibO
window, presumably because

(2) the About window displays the installation as Version 4.0.3.3

Yet, the version I downloaded and installed was
LibreOffice_4.0.4.2_Linux_x86_deb

It seems a minor issue really, so I'm just curious about this.

I tried installing LibO4.1 and that turned out to be really bad - no
desktop integration and I had difficulty opening up any of the
components, so that had to get removed PDQ, so hence back to 4.0.4
(which seems to think it is 4.0.3).

Cheers

Re: [libreoffice-design] Re: [libreoffice-users] AOO for Android - not worth the download

2013-06-23 Thread Charles-H. Schulz
Hello,

Johnny Rosenberg gurus.knu...@gmail.com a écrit :

 2013/6/22 Kracked_P_P---webmaster webmas...@krackedpress.com:

I downloaded Apache's Open Office for Android from Google Play.

  I have a Nook HD+, with a 9 inch display, i.e. 7.5 inches wide
  display, with 16 gig internal.

After the initial load/splash screen, I waited for over 4 minutes
and I still could not get the keyboard or any other controls to
work. So I tried to use the back button to exit the app but it
would not work. I had to use the Nook Button to go to my Home
screen to get out of that frozen AOO screen.

AOO-Android used the full top menu bars that you would see in a
normal install of AOO or LO on Windows or Linux. Those menu bars on
the top of the screen was so small, even my tablet pen could not
touch only the needed option. It touched the options all around it
as well. Now, I have a 9 inch tablet. It would even be worse on a
  7 inch tablet.

So, here is my opinion about what LOfor Android should be like.

1] Forget trying to have the full width top menu bars visible at
the same time. Maybe have it be on some type of left/right scroll.

2] Make the menus large enough to easily see and use on a 7 inch
tablet. AOO's was too small for even a 9 inch one.

3] Try and make it open, to the point you can start typing, in less
than 2 minutes, if possible. If not, warn the user it may take x
number of minutes to load up completely.

4] Do not try to make LO-Android do too much. People need a basic
office package to do some quick things. It should not be
areplacement for a desktop or laptop system.

5] Make sure there is enough room between the top menu bar[s] and
the tablet's default keyboard, without making the menus and control
icons too small to use properly and easily.

6] Make it able to run on a tablet that has a smallRAM and slower
CPUs, compared to the top of the line tablets. Not all tablets
have dual core CPUs with 2+ gig of RAM and 4+ gig internal
storage. My old one does not even come close.

I do not know what people really need to do on a tablet, for their
office package needs. What type of features and options are really
needed, or wanted. Sure, you will need to be able to display the
ODF and OOXML [07-13] documents. But what editing options will you
  need?

I just bought my first tablet that used Google Play. My last one
was a 7 inch that used Amazon and other app stores, but it was a
low end one. This new Nook HD+ was 44% off for the week of 9th
through the 15th, Father's Day Salepricing was the only way I could
afford to get one of these better tablets. I am still learning
what this better tablet can do and what apps I might want or need.
Right now, I do not want a packagelike AOO for Android.

So, I do not know how far the team is on the LO for Android app, but
hopefully they will not make the same mistakes as Apache did with
  their version.

This is a little confusing to me. You mention LibreOffice and Apache
OpenOffice for Android, but as far as I know there is no Apache
OpenOffice for Android, so I guess you are talking about LibreOffice
 all the time, right?

Well it's neither one of them :-) There's an app that claims to port
software to Android, and in this case they use Apache OpenOffice. But
it's nothing offiial from Apache as I understand it.

As for LibreOffice on Android Tim made some good points, so here are
some pointers as to where the Android port is heading to. As you can
see it is quite different from what Tim described:

http://www.muktware.com/5553/install-libreoffice-android
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/LibreOffice_on_Android

Hope this clarifies the question.

best,

It seems a minor issue really, so I'm just curious about this.

I tried installing LibO4.1 and that turned out to be really bad - no

Re: [libreoffice-users] AOO for Android - not worth the download

2013-06-23 Thread Kracked_P_P---webmaster

Maybe that port of Apache's AOO package should state very clearly that
it is not an official port from Apache, but a third party port.

Also using the standard abbreviation of AOO can be an issue. Maybe
AnOO would work.

Still, the issues I had with the package has stopped me from using it.
As I stated originally, after 5 minutes, or so, I still was not able to
do any typing, or anything else on the tablet. How long does a person
need to wait after the loading splash screen to get to use the app?

I have a NOOK HD+
1.5 GHz OMAP4470 dual core processor
16 GB internal storage [1/5 used]
32 GB microSD card.
[I do not know what the actual RAM number is.]

So this tablet is not a low end one, according to the device specs.
Taking 5 minutes, or more, to load is a real big issue for me.

There is no indication that AndrOpenOffice is even open source, although there
is apparently significant (non-GPL) open source content. You'll also notice
that it does not appear to use any of the Apache OpenOffice trademarks or

Nothing wrong with it being a port. It just isn't being conducted by the Apache
OpenOffice project.

There are disclaimers about full features of ... deeper in the material.

I guess we don't get to use AOO as a handy abbreviation for Apache OpenOffice any

Libre Office 4.0.4.2 installed perfectly fine on Ubuntu 13.04 with

Several years ago I was going to try a beta of a new version of Libre

4.1.0 is in RC1, which should have a desktop integration package included.

So the attempt to install and run 4.1.0 RC1 should have had the
integration included or working.

If it does not, then someone needs to make sure the Debian installs have
the desktop integration that works for Unity, and the other common
desktop environments.

Or is this the wrong mailing list to ask such questions on?

 0eaa50a932c8f2199a615e1eb30f7ac74279539) on Windows 7 64-bit. Files
are saved in native ods format.

I'm using a custom format code on a cell in Calc to get a value
displayed as a rate per hour.

This is the format code I want:

 [$R-1C09] #,##0.00 / hour;[$R-1C09]-#,##0.00 / hour

As it is, that code works fine. When I enter a value of 300, I can use
it in calculations, and it gets displayed as R 300 / hour, just as I
 want.

The problem comes in when I close the file. Even if all I do is enter
the correct formula as above, then save and close the file, when I
re-open the file, the field now displays as R 300.00 / hoRr. When I
go to the cell format, I see the format code has changed to:

 [$R-1C09] #,##0.00 / hRRr;[$R-1C09]-#,##0.00 / hoRr

This happens every time I close the file. When I re-open it, the
format has changed. This is not caused by the save, because once
edited, the formula stays correct for the duration of the session,
 until I close the file.

It's not just that hour has changed to hRRr and hoRr, but the
space between the 0.00 and the quote has gone (in fact, the quote
now has two spaces after it, instead of the one before I closed the
file). This space is very important. If I edit the formula as it is,
and just change the hRRr to hour, the format code is removed. On
the previous version of LibreOffice I had (not sure which version
that was, though, either 3.5 or 3.6 something), it would have no
effect. After editing the format code, the value would still be
displayed wrong, and going back to the cell format, I would see that
the format code had reverted back to the wrong code. Only if I put a
space between the 0.00 and quote would the code retain the hour.
Now, on this version of LibreOffice, if I don't put a space between
the 0.00 and the quote, if I just change the hRRr and hoRr to
hour, the custom format code is entirely removed, and the format
reverts to a standard number. If I correct the format, it stays until
I close the file, and then once I re-open it, it has reverted to the
 incorrect custom format code.

I have had this issue in several files, and can re-create it by
opening a new file, putting 300 in the first cell, going to Format
 | cells choosing currency and putting ' / hour' after both
0.00. This shows correctly. Then I save the file, close it, and
re-open it and it has mangled the custom format code.

Can anybody else confirm that they are also having this problem? Does
anybody know anything about this problem? Should I submit a bug for
this problem, and if so, where? At https://bugs.freedesktop.org/ or at
 https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/ ? I have tried searching

If you see the problem there too, it might defend on the locale and you

[libreoffice-users] Libreoffice 4.0.4 OS X - Gatekeeper - missing Developer Signature

2013-06-23 Thread Volker Guelke
Dear Libreoffice Team,

I just tried to run Libreoffice OS X on an OS X Mountaion Lion Installation.
Sadly the binary seems not to be signed by an official OS X developer
certificate generating an warning message to the user. Inside the Announce for
Libre Office 4.0.3 their was a note OS X Intel packages are now signed by The
Document Foundation, to pass OS X Gatekeeper security without user
intervention saying the software should be signed already. The actual version
4.0.4 seems not to be signed anymore.

Could you please inform me, if the missing Developer signature on LIbreOffice
4.0.4 for OS X is a mistake or if there is a good reason for this?

I've downloaded my Version of Libreoffice from
http://www.libreoffice.org/download/

Regards from Hannover, Germany

2013-06-23 Thread V Stuart Foote
András,

I beleive you can make needed adjustments from the Tools - Options -Language
Settings - Language panel to change the configuration.

Not sure of the exact pootle values, but look for something like...

Magyar

Hi Stuart,

Thank you for your quick reply.
Before I wrote my mail I have tested the problem:
I have downloaded the Hungarian installation set on a computer, on which the
Hungarian
Windows is installed. When I start the installation on this computer the
language is Hungarian.
When I install the same file on my other computer on which the OS is German,
the installed
LibreOffice language is German.

I look forward to your answer regarding my original question.
Thank you in advance

András

So looks like from the LibreOffice menus in Deutsch... Extras - Optionen -
Spracheinstellungen - Sprachen, változás a két Benutzeroberfläche

And then restart LibreOffice.

Do you have any ideas?

Re: [libreoffice-users] It would [not!] be a bug

2013-06-23 Thread Brian Barker

... this other chart No. 2:

I've used VLookUp function to get data from chart No 2 to this other chart:
Function: =BUSCARV(A3;'Tabla dinámica_Hoja2_1'.$A$11:$B$15;2)

 Show Should Show
Office Sells Sells
Ala 18 18
Punta 3 3
Here 16 16
Cart18 0
Lim 16 0

As you can see, the chart is order by office but
I got 18 and 16 in Cart and Lim but It
should show 0 in both. The LO program get datas
from Ala and Here for Cart and Lim. What happens?

There is no bug - but two mistakes. As you know,
if you omit the optional fourth parameter in the
VLOOKUP() function, the data is assumed to be
sorted. But as the help text makes clear, a
value is always returned in this case -
corresponding to the the last value smaller than
the criterion. In your case, Ala is next
before Cart and Here is next before
Lim. To prevent this, you need to add FALSE or
0 as the fourth parameter to VLOOKUP().

Second, there is no magic process by which Calc
will guess that you wish for a zero value when no
match is found: there is simply no value to
return! The value #N/A will be returned
instead. If you want zero values here, you need
to test for this error value and replace it with
zero. You can do this using the ISNA() function, using something like:

=IF(ISNA(VLOOKUP(Xn;array;2;0));0;VLOOKUP(Xn;array;2;0))

I trust this helps.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Error in Calc custom formats between closing and opening a file

Hi Regina,

Thanks for your response.

If I install the 4.1 beta, will it install side by side with the
existing stable, or replace it? If it replaces it, can I revert to
stable easily? Do I just re-install with the stable download?

It will not install side-by-side but will replace your stable 4.0.

You can install it side-by-side using an administrative installation:
run cmd to open the command window.
change directory to where the xxx.msi file is.
run msiexec /a xxx.msi

Of cause xxx is the longish file name. You can copy and paste the
longish file name in the command window by using the context menu.

After the files are extracted, open the file bootstrap.ini in the LO
program folder and change the line to UserInstallation=$ORIGIN/..

And how do I determine which locale and language settings I use? Do I
simply go to Tools|Options|Language Settings|Languages and give you all
the values there?

Yes, and please the language of your Windows too.

Another idea, try, whether it works, if you do not use currency in
addition but only add your text.

Kind regards
Regina
