What Mike is doing is different, he his prominently displaying the names of the contributors and send them (if they want) a sticker to thank them for their contributions. And I've seen many of the contributors happy and proud with their stickers, there is a fair collection of their feedback on the social media. Best would be to correct the help :) So if anyone of you has some time
and want to help, you are more than welcome, no need to know how to
code, the only requested skill is to write.

I experienced the same issue as yours, will comment the bug. However, this version is the first alpha of a new branch, so bugs are more than expected and that's why we test them so early. Marcus has spent time to develop that filter and I'm sure all what he wants is that it works. So please let him the time to get feedback and also the time he needs to fix it. If you would like to work on the documentation, there is a huge need for the off line help, several functionalities are not documented at all and could be lost for the users. The users guide are done by the documentation team, you just need to jump on the list and ask for an account on the ODFAuthors site, and follow the workflow there. To get this function go to Tools Options Languages settings Language and activate Asian. Then in the Format menu, select Asian phonetic guide. In the Base text field, you write the 'normal' word, in the Ruby field the different word. The area below let you choose where to put the Ruby text. Note that Ruby is also a style that you can modify. Don't know if that helps. You can also build your own list of words, but that will appear as a dictionary for spell checking. I guess drawing makes sense in that it gives you more control initially, but dragging should, in my opinion, at least still work and result in some kind of default sized field being dropped into the document, that you can then resize and/or manipulate. When you use LibreOffice in a corporate environment, you have to take care of the investment made by your company and take care also to protect the software used there. Being in a waiting attitude without helping things to happen put you at the risk to lose your investment or lose your software by not sustaining the ecosystem. Major regressions, on the other hand, are a very different issue, and your lumping them together is just plain disingenuous. so concerned as you are, you're following the new features page on the wiki and test the areas they may impact you, don't you? And then test daily builds to see if your bugs are fixed and there is no regressions? A regression should be dealt with, and in your case it has, just not fast enough for you - but that is live. Yep... and the consequences, in this case, are that my biggest client is seriously considering switching to Microsoft office, and because of the situation, caused purely by the Libreoffice devs refusal to fix the regression in a timely fashion, I have little ammunition to counter the push. I know no one here truly cares, but I do, and this is in fact the only reason I'm discussing this right now - meaning, I'm not a troll, I'm not here to just diss you guys or anything, I have what I consider to be very legitimate complaints about the way that this particular regression has, and is being, handled, and believe that (most of) the comments attempting to blame *me* for not 'ponying up' are irrelevant, invalid, and in some cases, extremely objectionable (see the paragraph following the next sentence as to why I take it as far as 'objectionable'). So again, if you are concerned by regressions, you should follow what is develop and what could have an impact for you. You can even write a regression test that I can put on our manual tests system. You don't need to wait for things to happen by themselves. Obviously, some of the volunteers here disagree, but on that note... I am also very aware that a very good number of the actual Libreoffice developers are paid to work on it (some full, some part) time, so it isn't like Libreoffice is a *purely* volunteer effort. In fact, it is, most likely, much too big of a project to survive on a purely volunteer basis, so please stop talking as if this were the case - it isn't. Yes but paid by whom? If I where you I would just test the proposed fix in the daily build to make sure it is fixed the way you expect it to get fixed. Oh, I will be doing this as soon as time permits, but for the last 3 weeks, my plate has been full, and again, since I reverted to 4.1.6 way back when, the bug hasn't on the front burner. Kind regards Sophie Thanks Sophie I have had bugs that others did not. One too an update of Ubuntu to remove the bug/issue with that version of LO. Another was fixed with the next version or three. There are too many systems out there, and too many flavors of various operating systems, Linux being named version of Linux and its version number, plus the different desktop environments, etc.. Ubuntu 13.xx/14.xx has Unity, with post install d.e.'s of KDE, MATE, Cinnamon, XFCE, Gnome3, and many others, along with Kubuntu, Lubuntu, and some others out there. Then add Linux Mint [Ubuntu based] different versions, and the other OS's that use .deb installs. Then add in all of the .rpm install types of Linux OS's. That is a lot of different combinations of version of Linux and desktop environments out there. I have some software that cannot run on the newest Ubuntu or Mint software, since there were changes in the packages needed in the display of a GUI - like Unity, MATE, KDE, etc.. So even the different version numbers have differences that could be an issue, or look like a bug, for LO and its user. Then deal with Windows, and Mac systems. NO testing team, even a 100 people, could test all of the functions of LO with every hardware, software, and OS/d.e. combination out there. The big software companies cannot, so why expect our alpha/beta/release version testers to do that job and find all of those issues/bugs? That's it exactly :) 4.3.0 passed the testing and release rules to get published. Sure there will be issues in the x.x.0 version. There may be unresolved issues in the x.x.6/7 versions as well. Many have not have had any solutions found to resolve the issue[s] while others have not been replicated by the testers or only by one or two and the developers have not found what is causing the issues - yet. I rarely pass on version below x.x.3 or .4 to others, and a lot of time not install the x.x.0 version on my systems, unless there is a major upgrade to a part of GUI or some other part of LO that I want to use. Some of the users will update their systems with each and every version in a cycle till the next line comes out and then they go to that line's x.x.0 version. yes Our volunteer developers and testing users do their best, before the version go beyond the beta stage AND during the different version number updates. They do their best. Then we do our best to help the users who have problems with LO till the developers and testers can figure out how to fix the issue, if possible. There are too few doing the work on their own time after they get home from their day jobs. They are volunteers and do not get paid. The last time I knew, we had only one paid person - the one who keeps our servers up and running. Then the money for that position comes from the donations to pay for the costs of the hardware and bandwidth to keep LibreOffice.com [and its associated sites] online and running properly. These are important terms that are widely used in open source software. Why does LO feel the need to be different? Fresh might be fine, but Still makes one think that it has reached end of life, and won't be updated anymore. Any help on how I could do this logic? I'm new here, please advice me if this kind of problem is better in a feature request than in the mailing list. It's more a feature request, yes For the moment, the only workaround I see to my problem is making new views in my database anticipating the filters. I would like to avoid it and use Libreoffice to filter on the fly, as the number of cases we face is potentially big/not previsible. It's not a workaround and it's how it is designed. So you're doing right regarding how LibreOffice handles mail merged. So the best is to request an enhancement on our bug database. But again, LibreOffice 4.1.x branch is not touched by Hearbleed because the OpenSSL library used doesn't have the bug. In the LibreOffice 4.2.x branch, the last 4.2.3.3 fixes the OpenSSl library used, so if you use this branch, you should update to the last released version. But again the risk for LO was rather low. The discussion took on a life of it's own regarding the OpenOffice application. I believe this was goodness, but now, what about the openoffice.org site? Is it indeed vulnerable? And if so, when will it get fixed? Hey, you are on the LibreOffice list, so I don't know, may be they need to wait for the new certificate to be in place :) A lot of sites have been affected and not all of them have been able to add the new certificate quickly however they patched the OpenSSL security thing and the site by itself was safe, only the new certificate needed to be issued, at least that's what we've done on the LibreOffice infrastructure side. AskLO is one obvious one but it would also be good to troll through the vast amount of articles about LO out there and help people who write into the comments section and clearly don't know their way to good places to ask questions. Please try to give them links to here, AskLO or the official help page so they can get those links themselves and also give them links to documentation such as here http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/documentation/ because the wiki-link we usually give on this mailing list might be confusing to such people. I am NOT saying to leave this list!! Just that if you have been here a while then you are probably used to dealing with an exceptionally high volume of traffic and might be finding yourself looking around for other ways to keep busy and there is tons of great stuff out there within the LO community. Hi all, The 4.2.0 RC1 version is due soon now and we would like to invite you to test it as this is the first release candidate. Some of the General and Writer sections might also need a bit of revising but all the rest is very fresh and new. The FAQ is maintained on a daily basis by the French team, so the items should be up to date, those which are obsolete have been put in remarks. Sophie, from the French Team (i think team leader (as well as being one of the top people in the international translators team and a founder member of TDF as a whole)), hum, I'm leading nothing, only me I guess ;) has been working hard over the last couple of weeks/months to translate the Faq from the French original (i think mostly written by our Alex Thurgood if i remember correctly). Other people have also put in some hard work but it was the sustained efforts of just a few people that has really driven this through, as is often the case. To give you some history, this FAQ has been began by the French group over 14 years ago at the StarOffice time... So, hopefully the Faq retains a little flavour of French. It might need smoothing out into the type of English you might hear in common usage (please no Yos tho!) . It's likely to be excellent as is though and a hint of Frenchness is occasionally aspired to in other places in order to sound more exotic and posh. Yes, it's a wiki, so don't hesitate to put your hands on if you see something wrong, this is a tool for all of us. Anyway, the job is done for Writer, Calc and Base so it might help us answer questions by giving us a repository of easy links to back-up our assertions.
