MO Empty SMS Issue

2011-06-30 Thread Amr Qanadilo
Dear List;

I have a question regarding Kannel;

We are using a Redhat linux and the latest release of Kannel. We would
appreciate your help in knowing how can we handle empty SMS though Kannel.
The use case is as follows;

User sends empty SMS, Kannel receive it and send it to our application. The
URL when received by the application is not understood by the apache server
so the apache reject the URL. I would like to know if there is a way to tell
Kannel to respond automatically to the empty sms by sending text sms back
without coming in to the application

I look forward for your feedback

Do you really need to access kannel's cgi-bin/sendsms at once?
If you don't, you can create a queue. All sources will send their
messages in a database queue.
You can call some http listener script which will save the messages
toa database, or the programs which need to send sms will
write their messages directly to the database. Then you will have
another scipt/program which will read the data from the database
and send http requests to kannel's cgi-bin/sendsms one by one.

thanks for reply Jovan,
actually issue is we are trying to test our system to receive messages in
bulk, there is a website on which we can schedule future sms, here we send
sms to modem's number at a particular time but our modem receives only 1 or
2 of them.

I don't know what's Dv, but if it helps I'm using an Android based phone (LG
GW620) as modem, and I'm able to handle MT and MO with it.
The only thing you need from a phone to work with kannel is to support AT
commands (which you can test manually before trying with kannel). And for MO
the phone must support CNMI AT command.

Good luck!

Kannel as APP for iPhone or Android

2011-06-30 Thread ha...@aeon.pk
Hi,

Android environment has developed an application SMSSync that lets the user
configure the keywords right on the android handset and trigger the URL over
GPRS internet. It's a pretty neat application, biggest advantage is that you
can continue to use the cellphone as normal, while SMS gateway keeps running
in the background and gets triggered over set keywords.

My question: Is someone working on converting kannel into iPhone/Android
app, maybe just for SMS gateway part? Secondly, is there any demand for it
around (if someone has heard of this requirement anywhere)? I have iPhone
app developers but need to see if the development work is worth it.

Lastly, is there any SMS gateway app around in iPhone environment, if
someone has heard of it or used it?

Thanks!

Regards,
Hamza

Yes. You can use for that the default SMS-service or configure in an empty
one. Read in UF about sms-service.

Re: receive multiple sms at one particular time

2011-06-30 Thread Alvaro Cornejo
Hi

As you said nothing about MO being received by kannel it seems more a
problem with your provider.

MO has about the same rate as MT. In modems it is about 6 to 10 secs
per sms. If your modem receives more that that, you SMSC provider
(telco) is responsible to queue them and deliver it once your modem is
free. You might need to contact your telco to see how they handle MO
queues in their side.

In any case, check your CNMI setup to be sure is the right one. Also
check that you are not storing messages on the device/sim card.

Regards

Alvaro

that warning just telling u that kannel can not parse message id from
smsc (other side) response, and you could have problems wit DLR.

that warning just telling u that kannel can not parse message id from

Hi Guillermo,

Command_status 59 is not known to me (not listed in enumeration
http://www.inetlab.com/Products/Inetlab.SMPP/Help/html/T_Inetlab_SMPP_Common_CommandStatus.htm
),
that code is not specified in standard
(http://www.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/SMPP_v3_4_Issue1_2-24857.pdf
page 113).

So try to contact your provider (smsc) and ask them what that status
means for them and why they use it.

RE: questions regarding kannel

2011-06-30 Thread Jose Sanchez
Hello,

Thanks for the response.
Im not really asking for a cheap SMS gateway but configuring Kannel to connect
to the SMS gateway instead of a GSM modem because I cant find any documentation
for this.

Do you guys mind pointing me to some documentation/tutorial on how to achieve
this?

Thanks again!

 The cheapest solutions depends on
which network you will send the messages
to. Also it depends on the volume that you send.

If you google for cheap sms gateway then you will get a
 lot of results.
You don't need this list for that.

you can connect to  a mobile
service provider in your country. the
costs vary depending on the country and
 provider.

Thanks!

Do you know documentation about it?

in kannel docs, sms-serviceS configuration examples only have get_url =
http://;

Recompile Kannel (and reinstall) using ./configure --with-mysql or any other
of the supported db engines.

The recompile sqlbox doing the same.
