nokia 6230 SMSC
My scenario is: 1) through HTTP one WEB application call Kannel and send SMS 2) Kannel receive a SMS and forward message to WEB application so i have installed kannel and connect it to a mobile phone (nokia 6230) I just sent SMS, and now i have to receive SMS and forward to WEB application How i can do this!?! this is my configuration: group = smsc smsc = at smsc-id = nokia6230 modemtype = nokiaphone device = /dev/ttyACM0 #my-number = 7 speed = 9600 connect-allow-ip = 127.0.0.1 log-level = 0 sim-buffering = true include = /kannel/gateway-1.4.1/doc/examples/modems.conf And modem.conf: group = modems id = nokiaphone name = Nokia Phone detect-string = Nokia Mobile Phone need-sleep = true message-storage = SM init-string = AT+CNMI=1,2,0,1,0;+CMEE=1 keepalive-cmd = AT+CBC;+CSQ thanx to all

Further when i do ~#dmesg : it doesn't show which device it was attached to. 2. when i used ~#hwinfo modems : the 6230 is listed as one of the modems and it shows that it is attached to /dev/ttyACM0. However, the device file doesn't exist. 3. So i created the device file using ~#mknod /dev/ttyACM0 c 166 0 and changed my device setting to this newly created device. 4. however, when i started bearerbox and smsbox, it panics and says AT2[/dev/ttyACM0]: file not found. ERRNO=6 what could i be missing? Hi, 1. Get some trial with minicom to make sure your SuSE is connected to the phone 2. if it is really connected to /dev/ttyUSBn then of course you must edit your configuration to fit it. 3. If I want to access to the internet, I have to configure it to connect directly on the HTTP proxy (squid) instead of Kannel. Ive configured Kannel to use this proxy though. Moreover, in the phone specs its written that it supports WAP 1.2.1 and 2.0, so I dont understand why it doesnt work with kannel. There's different parts to the WAP specs regarding the versioning. Namely there's the transport type (WAP or HTTP) and then the language constructs (ie. WML only or WML and XHTML and so on). A WAP 2.0 phone *does* have the option of supporting both transport stacks, but I doubt any do. If it connects to and works with your HTTP proxy, then it's an HTTP stack. You're going to see less and less new phones supporting the WAP stack anyway, so you might as well get working on the next gen configurations (ie. how you want to route the traffic, etc.). Jon
