When I try to open or print a .doc document that I have received as an
attachment I get the following message:
“The requested operation requires elevation”
What does this mean or how can I get this document to open in Open Office 4?

Windows is your problem!
When have we ever observed MS to make major jumps in technology? As did Steve
Jobs did with Apple.
MS makes small increments, thus dragging along problems that resides in their
code.
I have not heard anything that says they have changed their mode in technology.

Despite Dr. Zarlenga's odd claims, I do believe that it is possible to
run Java on Windows. I happen to use Linux, so anything that I say is of
course suspect.
A few questions for you.
1. What version of AOO are you using? 4.x? For version 3.x, you need
Java 6, for AOO 4, you can use 7.
2.

Im Menü Extras von Draw und Impress findet man den Menüpunkt 'Farbwähler'.
Der Dialog selbst hat den Titel 'Pipette'. In der Hilfe wird
ausschließlich 'Pipette' benutzt.
Ist in der 4.0.1 so und auch im NightlyBuild 4.1.0 (1540746).
Für mein Dafürhalten sollte man in Zukunft 'Pipette'
