Re: In Calc, can the horizontal and vertical scroll sections be enlarged?
Some success with the "theme" hint. I changed to Clearlooks from Adwaita and ta!da! the horizontal and vertical scroll bars in Calc are wider and clearer. CentOS 7 default for themes right now is GTK 2. I'm Ok with that for the time being. -- "Don't let anyone dull your sparkle." __ Kay On 6/12/20 8:05 AM, Kay Schenk wrote: Thanks to all for telling me about potential problems with my "theme". Hello all, I am using AOO 4.1.7 on Linux-64. A have a spreadsheet with multiple sheets. Hello AOO users -- The Apache OpenOffice "community" at: https://plus.google.com/+openoffice will be going away with other user-centric G+ accounts on April 2, 2019. Apache OpenOffice does indeed have a perfectly functional spell checker. And, of course, we are aware of the problems for some users/systems with the spell checker on upgrades. We have recently had a patch submitted and tested to correct this problem. See the following BZ entry: https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=126762 Hopefully, when 4.2 is released, the problem will be solved. Once you know this, you will then need to investigate what document format is generated by the medical record system. You say it generates an OpenOffice document but in what format -- .odt? .doc? The document type output will need to be compatible with what the FAX server wants as input. Many FAX servers are happy with either .doc or .pdf formats. The FAX server could be generating or telling you it's sending .tif because it doesn't recognize the input type and it defaults to sending an image format if it can't determine input document type. -- - MzK One must still have chaos in oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star. -- Friedrich Nietzsche - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org

I know both GNOME and KDE now make use of the freedesktop.org xdg specifications. Maybe the internal e-mail handler in AOO can make use of those interfaces. At any rate, more research and investigation needed -- a topic for the dev list. Since distros dont ship AOO, the options are very integrated with LO. Dolphin/Konqueror default the *.odt to LO. Well, Ok, but you can change these default mime types. Just like we do automatically for Windows, but offer no solution on Linux. Users need to do it manually. http://www.tutorialsforopenoffice.org/images/Download_2_4_1_html_5bc7f92d.png AOO also integrates with Thunderbird but doesn't really show an option for Kmail. Or their latest Kolab, OwnCloud system. I'm having some issues myself configuring e-mail to work with AOO 4.0.1 at this point. I use KDE but have never used Kmail. No details until I can figure out more what the problem could be. There is also Akonadi which is the underlining resource manager for KDE-PIM. Not sure to what degree of integration with KMail services is dependable of it. I know in the past Sun people worked with Mozilla to integrate some of the Calendar/Mail services with OpenOffice under the Lightning project. http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/features/3.0/#Calendar_and_Email_Client_.28Mozilla_Thunderbird_and_Lightning.29 Evolution is practically death, but both Kolab/Akonadi are very well alive under the KDE layer. I know both GNOME and KDE now make use of the freedesktop.org xdg specifications. Maybe the internal e-mail handler in AOO can make use of those interfaces. At any rate, more research and investigation needed -- a topic for the dev list. Gnome use gconf for their setting rules (API), I don't know the actual name for KDE but I know there is one. This is a few layers above DBus/uDev, but more on the Desktop environment level. I also think that we need to take efforts to make OpenOffice finally deal with media (for embedded objects). Sun never wanted to depend on DM specific media frameworks like gstreamer, and preffered a very obsolete JMF (Java Media Framework) which quite honestly never really worked as expected. Freedesktop have some frameworks like Telepathy, and KDE has phonon to deal with media. KDE deals greatly with OpenDocuments (not really AOO but helps) having an internal rendering libraries for all things OpenDocuments natively. https://kenai.com/projects/kde-odf-thumbnail A lot of useful information here. Oddly, now using AOO 4.0.1, RC3, and configuring my e-mail manually, all is good. With the previous RC2 version, I got into some dialog boxes that seemed to want to do some configuration, but only got partially through that. Odd. And, it didn't work. But, today, all is well. OK, I will look into this when I have a moment.
