Hi Nathanaël,

Are you looking for specific information?
The planning is, as always has been, in Bugzilla and while many work on
3.6.x still, there has been some work on 4.0 items already (mainly in the
mast branch of oVirt).
I'm using [1] as a Bugzilla query to look at all open RFEs. Those with
4.0.0 are the ones currently targeted for 4.0 - but I assume more will be
added/removed to the list.

Which meetings and reports are you missing?

HTH,

has the highest visibility wrt sharing saved searches.)

Just noting that some months ago there was a significant change in management
of ovirt bugs in bugzilla, see e.g. [1] [2]. This was done also so that
spreadsheets will not be needed anymore.

Yes, ovirt-guest-agent is reporting it. You can't talk to it directly(vdsm
does), so uf you want to retrieve it for your own purposes you can pull it from
engine's rest api

I have currently a data center with two clusters and each cluster had 1 host.

On one of the hosts, I now enabled 10 GbE NIC called p4p1. Currently everything
is going over a 1 GbE NIC called em1 (ovirtmgmt).

My question now is, how I could add my 10 GbE NIC to the setup for instance to
use for transferring data during transmissions to export domain or to simply
replace the 1 GbE?

You can simply edit the network bindings from the engine:
http://www.ovirt.org/OVirt_Administration_Guide#Editing_Host_Network_Interfaces_and_Assigning_Logical_Networks_to_Hosts

Is up to you to choose if you want just to use the 10 GbE NIC or if you prefer
to create two distinct logical networks or an active-backup bond of the two
interfaces.

I prefer little downtime (eg only temp network loss), but a full downtime
(shutting down) could be acceptable.

Thank you for any pointers or starting points you could provide,

Kind regards,

2016-01-10 Thread Christophe TREFOIS
Hi Yaniv,

In the best case everything, I would like to replace the 1G with 10G.
The reason is that both NICs are on the same subnet, which would create
problems then with both active?

My guess is the RX errors are due to the missing gateway?

Currently I can’t reach the p4p1 NIC since the gateway goes through the 1G NIC.

Makes sense. If possible, I'd change this (routing-wise) and just reinstall
the host from the oVirt management. That would be the simplest approach.
(but again, I'd do it only after making sure the network is error free).

Re: [ovirt-users] How to add faster NIC to oVirt cluser / host?

2016-01-10 Thread Christophe TREFOIS
I’m a bit weary in re-installing that host as it runs the engine on a shared
storage locally.

I’ll try to figure out the networking errors first.

Thanks,

Hi Yaniv,

In the best case everything, I would like to replace the 1G with 10G.
The reason is that both NICs are on the same subnet, which would create
problems then with both active?

Linux isn't very happy when two NICs are on the same subnet, AFAIK, so indeed,
I would not recommend it.

My guess is the RX errors are due to the missing gateway?

No, those are Ethernet level issues.

Currently I can’t reach the p4p1 NIC since the gateway goes through the 1G NIC.

Before you move, I suggest to look at the errors that you have here. On the 1G
you have transferred far more data without errors.

What would you like to move to the 10g? The storage, migration, VM networks?

Re: [ovirt-users] ISO domain question

Looks like a pretty old request, too… if I may ask, is this a complicated
technical change, or is it just lower priority than other open issues? Seems
like if it was an easy change to make, it would be a big win for users…

Indeed, and we have an RFE for that:

Indeed, It is on the road map also for converting the Export domain to a
regular data storage domain.

Nothing is easy as it looks (Murphy's law) ;-)

There are cons and pros for moving the ISO (and the export domain) it to
become a regular data domain (vs. the complete opposite - just making it a
regular directory, not a domain or anything).
- It definitely will require (better) management tools (compared to the
basic ISO uploader and being able to easily rename & delete ISOs in the ISO
domain).
- It will provide better performance in some cases (does it matter for the
ISO domain? Not sure).
- It may relieve the need for NFS altogether (if you are using some other
storage technology)
- It will make sharing the domain more difficult across (put your favorite
item here - data centers, products, continents...)
- It will simplify the code in some areas.
