I'm using oVirt Engine Version: 4.0.0.6-1.el7.centos and wanted to connect an 
LDAP server.  I went looking for engine-manage-domains on the engine machine 
but it seems to be missing.  Any ideas?

You must install ovirt-engine-extension-aaa-ldap.noarch package from ovirt repo 
and run  ovirt-engine-extension-aaa-ldap-setup, choosing which kind of ldap 
server, fqdn etc.

[ovirt-users] Missing engine-manage-domains?!

I am sorry that the diagram was not clear enough.

There is two bonds (4 phisical nic's, each pair is LACP). One for mgmt
traffic only and one to carry untag and tag traffic.
But I do understand your point.
I will try to separate this and have everything on its own access port.

To move my current ovirtmgmt interface to a new one all I have to do is
create one and assign it and remove the old one correct?

 Networks, including the management one, can be assign as non-vlan

The way I did it on a test 3.6 cluster was to create two networks in
oVirt, "storage1" and "storage2".  I assigned both networks to the
hosts, connected to different NICs, and gave each an IP (in the iSCSI
subnet).  Then I could set up the iSCSI multipath in the oVirt data
center.  This seems weird/wrong, and I'm not sure oVirt actually
configured both NICs in multipath.

Two NICs on the server, two NICs on the iSCSI target, each with an IP
per NIC, and connected to two switches in between (either stacked or
trunked).  No SPOF.

We support it as well - it's poorly called 'iSCSI bonding'.

BTW, having two IPs on a single subnet is not a great idea - it usually
mean you have a SPOF somewhere (the switch perhaps?).

There you can assign one or more networks to a iSCSI backend. In my opinion
you cannot have more than one interface within the same network segment to
do multipath, as you would have connectivity issues (not sure if ovirt
restricts creating two overlapping networks)

a SAN backend with two IP addresses, you first discover LUNs from first IP
address, then discover LUNs from the second IP address, and so on... once
you have them all, you just check them and click on "OK" so the same target
is added with several IP addresses. You don't need to have one IP address
per oVirt server.

Yes, the host is up in the webadmin, there are no issues with it, just
the VMs running on it have the '?' mark. I've made 3 tests:

1) Restart engine: did not help
2) Check firewall, seems to be ok.
2) PostgreSQL: UPDATE vm_dynamic SET status = 1 WHERE status = 8; :
After a while, I see lots of entries like this:

The engine log looks fine - the VMs are reported as not-responding for
some reason. I would restart libvirtd and vdsmd then


Is restarting those two daemons safe? I mean, will that stop all qemu-* 
processes, so the VMs marked as unknown will stop?

Yes, there is no other way to resolve it other than changing the DB but
the change should be to update run_on_vds field of these VMs to the host
you know they are running on. Their status will then be updates in 15
sec.

Nice, now it's crystal clear. This is an Huawei Oceanstor disk array which
we want to test with ovirt so we can see performance, how ovirt behaves
with situations where one controller is disconnected etc., that's why we
wanted to implement multipath.

data storage.
When I install now the hosted_engine, which storage path should I use?

Setup 1:

Setup 2:
server1: localhost:/hosted_engine
server2: localhost:/hosted_engine
server3: localhost:/hosted_engine

Setup 3:
/etc/hosts: 127.0.0.1 gluster
server1: gluster:/hosted_engine
server2: gluster:/hosted_engine
server3: gluster:/hosted_engine

Other Setup? What is the best practice there?

Every iSCSI SAN has multiple portals (usually one on each storage
controller, and each with it's own IP), and when you create a target you
assign it the portals through which it should be accessible. So if you have
two portals (two IPs) assigned to a target (LUN), you can access it via two
paths, each path leading through a different portal/IP to the same
target/LUN.

No, multipath is the *same* storage (ie LUN) exposed via two different 
network paths.

leading to block storage LUNs, and the underlying fabric does not matter.

Multipath is more a SAN thing, - not a tcp/ip.
You should use something like LACP group on two (or more) of your network 
interfaces. Also you will have to configure your switch accordingly. You will 
not have to worry about second ip. LACP bonded interface will use one IP, but 
will fail-over to one of nics if needed.

No LV for /var created at all.

I checked messages in my other hypervisor where /etc/fstab was not modified, 
KDUMP was OK there.

The question about registrating the host in the manager i got solved, it is now 
done from the manager.
(I come from the Redhat 3.5, and are just started on Ovirt 4)

Nice that the status issue could be solved.
For adding Node, you can either add the host by gpoing to Engine and then add 
the host, or you can use vdsm register on the host to register it to Engine.

In oVirt 4.0, you can choose a vnic libvirt filter from a list (at the vnic
profile settings).
You can check the clean-traffic filter which uses multiple other more
specific filters.

Based on the tag, traffic that enters bond0 will be forwarded to the
relevant network.
Any traffic that enters bond0 and is either untag or has a tag that does
not correspond to the defined vlans,
will be forwarded to the non-vlan network (default vm in this case).
Note that when packets pass a vlan interface, they are stripped of their
tag.

I personally consider a mix of tag and untag on the same iface/port as bad
practice, but there may be reasons to
choose it. If you can, try having all networks with vlans, and set the
switch ports correctly to reflect that.
Any other device on the network, like the router, can be connected to the
switch to an access port (say of vlan 100),
so traffic there is untag, and when traffic goes to the ovirt host, it will
go tagged 100.
