[ovirt-users] Use an oVirt-VM as a VDSM server
Greetings. In terms of teaching our students how to create and configure an oVirt infrastructure, we're planning to provide each of them a VM that will act as a Manager server, which has no issues so far. The problem is that we don't have enough physical machines to use as virtualization servers (VDSM), therefore we have been trying to use a CentOS7 based oVirt guest to run as a VDSM server. However, when trying to add it as a host, a (logical) error message shows up saying that the VM doesn't allow virtualization. The question is simple: Is there a way to enable virtualization on an oVirt VM, so we can deploy them as VDSM servers? This is oVirt 4.2.2 FWIW. Re: [ovirt-users] do we need some documentation mainteiners?
Seriously, what's wrong with you? I've being reading your comments for some time and the only things I see are whining, unproductive complaining and disrespectful comments. Please, stop it. There are tons of ways to say something, and the way you use is insulting for dozens of people developing this project. Most people here are seeking help and/or trying to be useful aiding others in what they can. If you don't like oVirt or you have that much complains maybe you should start your project yourself and do things like you consider they should be done. Re: [ovirt-users] desktop version of client?
Hello Amy. We had the same needs back in July as we have some classrooms with thin clients and although we don't just offer the oVirt service we wanted something simple so users don't need to open a browser and just handle their machines in a simple way, so I found this project [1] that works quite fine for what we need. Manage virtual machine's power and start a viewer. Period. No more funcionalities (not sure if you need something more sophisticated...). The project has been stopped for a time but it seems that the maintainer is implementing new capabilities and fixing some things lately. As a side note, you didn't mention if your thin clients are linux or windows based but I believe this is for linux only. Re: [ovirt-users] Multipath iSCSI with several IPs
I guess you mean the 'iSCSI multipath' sub-tab under the 'Datacenters' tab. There you can assign one or more networks to a iSCSI backend. In my opinion you cannot have more than one interface within the same network segment to do multipath, as you would have connectivity issues (not sure if ovirt restricts creating two overlapping networks) 2016-08-04 17:27 GMT+01:00 Chris Adams : > Once upon a time, James Michels said: > > Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Dan meant target's IPs. Re: [ovirt-users] Multipath iSCSI with several IPs
Hello Chris, Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Dan meant target's IPs. So if you have a SAN backend with two IP addresses, you first discover LUNs from first IP address, then discover LUNs from the second IP address, and so on... once you have them all, you just check them and click on "OK" so the same target is added with several IP addresses. You don't need to have one IP address per oVirt server. 2016-08-04 16:32 GMT+01:00 Chris Adams : > Once upon a time, Dan Yasny said: > > Normally you > > 1. enter the IP > > 2. click discover > > 3. login to whatever was found > > 4. enter another IP instead of the first > > 5. goto 2 > > How do you give the oVirt server two IPs (in the same subnet) though? > > -- > Chris Adams > ___ > Users mailing list > Users@ovirt.org > http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users > ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users
Re: [ovirt-users] Fwd: Multipath iSCSI with several IPs
Nice, now it's crystal clear. This is an Huawei Oceanstor disk array which we want to test with ovirt so we can see performance, how ovirt behaves with situations where one controller is disconnected etc., that's why we wanted to implement multipath. Hello, I want to add an iSCSI based storage domain. Re: [ovirt-users] Unofficial projects
We have lots of non-technically profiled users but yet we want them to use some machines, mostly "automatic" VM pools. So instead of making them open the User panel, we're working on a very simple desktop app that will connect to oVirt's API with their credentials, get a list of all VMs they have permissions on and allow them only 2 operations: manage power (power off, power on) and connect to the machine getting a SPICE ticket and chaining it to virt-viewer. The main advantage is that this app will be started on their session open, so it should be more confortable to them. Once finished we will publish the source code, so If you consider this useful I can notify you if interested.
