Re: [ovirt-users] R: Re: Network instability after upgrade 3.6.0 -> 3.6.1

2016-01-02 Thread Jon Archer
Hi,

I'm not near the server for a while but network is set up

2x broadcom nic with whatever driver works out of the box.

Both set as slaves to bond0 which is in mode=4 with no explicit options.

Switch is a fairly basic tp-link but works almost identically to a Cisco. Has
the 2 ports set up in a portchannel.

Short and long, this config works in earlier kernel, but not with kernel
shipped in 7.2

Release notes for RH7.2 suggest some work on bonding has been done, wonder if
default options (LACP speed?) have changed?

Stefano,

I am currently experiencing the same issue. 2x nic lacp config at switch, mode
4 bond at server with no connectivity. Interestingly I am able to ping the
switch itself.

I haven't had time to investigate thoroughly but my first thought is an update
somewhere.

Did you ever resolve and get back to mode=4?

Re: [ovirt-users] R: Re: Network instability after upgrade 3.6.0 -> 3.6.1

2015-12-29 Thread Jon Archer

Hi Stefano,

It's definitely not the switch, it seems to be the latest kernel package
(kernel-3.10.0-327.3.1.el7.x86_64) which stops bonding working
correctly, reverting back to the previous kernel brings the network up
in 802.3ad mode (4).

I know, from reading the release notes of 7.2, that there were some
changes to the bonding bits in the kernel so i'm guessing maybe some
defaults have changed.

I'll keep digging and post back as soon as i have something.

Re: [ovirt-users] Upgrading

2015-10-13 Thread Jon Archer
Personally I would take full advantage of the maintenance modes,
upgrading the engine before the hosts too.

Putting the hosts in maintenance mode before upgrading at least will
allow for the vm's to migrate to the other hosts in the cluster incase
of an outage.

the migration from krb/ldap to AAA went smoothly and so far is running

I am about to do the same to our production cluster and was wondering

it any different than a self hosted ovirt setup?

Re: [ovirt-users] Failed to read VM '[Empty Name]' OVF, it may be corrupted

2015-03-18 Thread Jon Archer
I did take a quick look through the ovf file but wasn't sure what would
be out of order and also with it being every vm that is exported, and
I've exported each VM several times I did wonder whether that would be
the issue.

Nevertheless see attached for an example ovf.

Thanks

Somewhere in the export domain you should have files with .ovf extension which
is an XML describing the VM. I'd say they will be corrupted.

Hi all,

seing a strange issue here, I'm currently in the process of migrating

The new setup is a 3.5 install with hosted engine and glusterfs the old

However I came to move the last 4 VM's and am seeing an issue where

export storage to import and see this in the log:

I've brought up new export storage domains on both the new and old
cluster (and a seperate storage array for that matter) all resulting the
same messages.

Anyone any thoughts on these errors?

Thanks

[ovirt-users] CentOS dependencies on 3.5

2014-07-04 Thread Jon Archer

Hi,

Just tried to run an update to 3.5 beta and i'm seeing dependencies that
are not satisfied.

Error: Package: vdsm-jsonrpc-java-1.0.0-0.0.master.el6.noarch
(ovirt-3.5-pre)

   Requires: codehaus-jackson-core-asl
Error: Package: vdsm-jsonrpc-java-1.0.0-0.0.master.el6.noarch
(ovirt-3.5-pre)

   Requires: codehaus-jackson-mapper-asl

Any ideas? I've done a bit of googling and not uncovered much. Looking
at the specfile there seems to be a requirement for jackson, which isn't
in the C6 repos but does seem to be in the C7 repos.

Thanks

Which version of Engine are you running?
(I really hope it's not a nightly build, that would mean that

Bug 1016461 - [vdsm] engine fails to add host with vdsm version 4.13.0

What is your cluster level?

2014-05-23 Thread Jon Archer

Hi,
I've got the nightly repo enabled it came from ovirt-master-snapshot

I'm quite prepared for breakages and work involved to fix, just wondered
if anyone could point me in the right direction.

As far as I know, latest version released is 4.14.8.1 (with oVirt
3.4.1).

Where did you got 4.15?

[Users] Error message constantly being reported

2014-02-02 Thread Jon Archer

Hi All,

Constantly seeing this message in the logs:

looks like an option which isn't recognised by the gluster volume
status command.

Any ideas how to resolve? It's not causing any problems, but I would
like to stop it.

Cheers

[Users] Reboot causes poweroff of VM 3.4 Beta

Hi,

Seem to be suffering an issue in 3.4 where if a vm is rebooted it
actually shuts down, this occurs for all guests regardless of OS

[Users] oVirt 3.4.0 issues with storage

2014-01-22 Thread Jon Archer

Hi all,

I upgraded to 3.4 beta this evening and seem to have developed a problem
with the storage domains. I seem unable to bring them online getting the
error in the console Failed to activate Storage Domain.

Also alongside this error is a warning, Invalid status on Data Center
local_datacenter. Setting status to Non Responsive

Anyone seen this? Or any ideas?

Thanks

Re: [Users] oVirt 3.4.0 issues with storage

2014-01-22 Thread Jon Archer

I think I am getting a little closer.

Somewhere during the upgrade the /etc/exports file was modified, so my
iso directory (/var/lib/exports/iso) was set to none, whereas it was
originally set to 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0(rw).

I was seeing in the vdsm log that the UID for the ISO_DOMAIN was showing
as not existing:
StorageDomainDoesNotExist: Storage domain does not exist:
('69ea8415-8d33-4d9b-a29b-057970984c99',)

That uid was in the metadata file in the above export.

Now, stranger it seems my export_domain (should be NFS to /data2) path
in the GUI is showing as /var/lib/exports/iso

Getting closer but still not working.

I rebooted the server (probably could have restarted services) and it
all seems to have come back to life...

Seems to be an issue somewhere in there then
