I guess you need to install the vnc drivers on the guest before the migration, buuut I think this should already be installed... I believe that the best way to "import" is to use the *ovirt-img download-disk* and *ovirt-img upload-disk* cli to download and upload the disk to new domain-storage, so after, to create the new vm configuration. [ovirt-users] Network interface configuration
Hi! There is any configuration on interface, kernel or sysctl.conf to tuning of network performance? We have Connect-X 40Gbps and 100Gbps but we guess we can have more performance, you know? Our VMs have a +- 1 or 2gigas (1500 MTU) of throughput on iperf test. ovirtmgmt has around 27 ~ 30Gbps (9000 MTU) of throughput on iperf test. We already use 9000 MTU in all network devices and ovirt's bonds. Tests were performed without concorrence workload. Hi. I also use Zabbix here. Its problem is that it collects metrics in real time, this is not its function. There are other alternatives like Elasticsearch + metricbeat, but from what I've tested, it's very heavy and uses a lot of disk space lol. I never used Prometheus, I found it interesting. I'll do some tests. @Patrick Dubois How often do you collect information with Zabbix? Every 1 minute? Because for example... for the information to be used correctly for analysis, we have to have an IO load of at least 1 continuous minute so that Zabbix can collect the correct information. Cheers! Hi, I believe that when you replicate the LUN using Array Storage, *you also replicate the uuid of the lvm* (volume group) that oVirt/Linux uses. I believe this is the cause of not being able to import the new LUN as Domain Storage. You can view the logs on the host you chose to import the LUN (rescan process). The file is located in */var/log/vdsm/vdsm.log*. *My suggestion:* 1 - Create a new LUN 2 - Create a Domain Storage 3 - Replicate the data (disks) using some script or backup software such as Vinchin Cheers! I also agree... I believe that, in addition to the location of the binaries (which is different for other distributions), I think another problem is going to a distribution that does not support NetworkManager. Hi all! Just to sweeten the conversation... We're running Virt 4.5.5 on CentOS Stream 9 and everything works wonderfully. I tested the Engine and host installation using RL9 and it also worked. Here we used several Supermicros, HPE DL560 Gen10, Gigabyte CL2200 Gen10, Dell R930, and they were all compatible. We also use LSI SAS 3, PERC and other RAID controllers... all of them compatible with Stream 9. Of course, if you have much older hardware, there will be compatibility issues, that's normal. It's the hardware life cycle, just like it works with smartphones and video games. [ovirt-users] Re: Installing oVirt as a self-hosted engine - big big problem :()
Hi, Andrea. I believe that oVirt dev team have been fix this issue, because after a few days I used the iso https://resources.ovirt.org/repos/ovirt/github-ci/ovirt-node-ng-image/ovirt-node-ng-installer-4.5.5-2023071207.el9.iso and it worked. I think the problem was between Ansible and Python versions. I tested both el8 and el9 versions, using BIOS and UEFI and they all worked. Cheers! Hi, Sandro. Yesterday I installed the oVirt Node 4.5.5 version ( *ovirt-node-ng-installer-4.5.5-2023071207.el9.iso*) and it *worked perfectly*. No errors, no incompatibilities. I can say, quickly in my tests, that in terms of drivers/modules, this version 4.5.5 el9 is very good. I needed to switch from el8 to el9 because of incompatibility between *Cascadelake Family* processors and *libvirt-8.x*. Hi. I've used the documentation below several times. https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/installing_ovirt_as_a_standalone_manager_with_local_databases/index.html I already installed it in Rocky Linux and Centos Stream, in versions 8 and 9. To use local resources, you need to create a new Data Center and set the Storage Type to Local. Then add the Host. Or with the host already added in Data Center Default, click on *Management* -> *Maintenance* to put the host in *Maintenance*. Then click on *Management* -> *Configure Local Storage* to configure a *local directory*. My recommendation: Create a *Thin LVM*, format it in XFS and mount it in a writable directory for the vdsm user. I always use XFS because I can defrag the volume with it active. Cheers! [ovirt-users] Re: Ovirt_Provider_Citrix-Xen
Hey. I've had this "problem". I believe there is no automatic and transparent way to do this, so I can say what I did: - I installed the default kernel (full virtualized) on the VMs and set it as default. - I exported the discs (OVA), unzipped them with tar - I used qemu-img to convert the disks to qcow2 - I added the disks to a Domain Storage, in oVirt - I recreated the VM using the previously added disk. It is worth remembering that Xen Citrix uses paravirtualized drivers, so you may have to uninstall them first and/or install the paravirtualized kvm drivers. Maybe, just maybe, you have to upload a temporary VM on a raw KVM using virt-manager, because maybe oVirt doesn't recognize the disks the first time. So I only managed to upload a VM using IDE type disks. After you adjust the drivers, you can safely use Virtio-SCSI type disks. Hope this helps. Oh, thanks man. I didn't get to install 4.5.4. I'm moving to 4.5.5 in a new environment. *A Feedback:* I'm using the *ovirt-node-ng-installer-4.5.5-2023071207.el8.iso* and for now everything is working. My environment is small and I use fiber channel. Cheers! Hi. I'm following the release of the 4.5.5 isos and I see that new isos are coming out almost every day. [ovirt-users] Local physical disk directly on the VM
Hi. Is it possible to deliver a physical disk straight to the VM? What's my idea... I have a local disk on the server and I want to deliver it directly to a VM, is it possible? For example, take the hypervisor disk /dev/disk/by-id/ata-INTEL_SSDSC2KB480G8_PHYF117203AA480BGN and hand it to the VM. Hi Konstantin, thanks for the reply. So... I just used the ovirt-node-ng-installer-4.5.4-2022120615.el9.iso install... no patches, no additional packages. I set 16 vCPUs and 64GB to the engine VM in the deploy... just it. I will reinstall and test the workaround you mentioned. I'll keep you posted here. BR. The image is small and I'm a little blind LOL. Is this the Engine deploy? You can provide us with the deployment logs that are located in /var /log/ovirt-hosted-engine-setup and the output of your journalctl or /var /log/messages At the beginning of the Engine's deployment, it tells you exactly what the deployment log file is, it is very useful for debugging. Hi all. I tried to install OPNsense 20.7.6 (FreeBSD 12.1) and it was not possible to detect the NICs. I tried both the virtio driver and the e1000.
